and just like when we hear sound on earth as being a pressurization/depressurization of air/gas, in space, i guess mass (like planets, orbiting asteroids, suns etc) cause a pressurization/depressurization of gravity creating harmonics all throughout space.. Just thought of that then :D

AudioWhore wrote:Each note may represent an element and each chord could represent a compound (eg water - h20).. When musicians make music consisting of many chords and notes in an arranged sequence this could also represent (unconsciously) the many facets of what we see or experience in nature and hence gives a sense of travel or movement.
Hmm...mangle that a touch and you've just come up with an outstanding idea for the ultimate VSTi!

Using various combinations of elements and frequencies to produce sounds as yet unimagined. The harmonic substrata of Helium atoms in an excited state might be the most beautiful musical timbre we've ever experienced! Imagine apply LFO and modulation wheels to that! It would probably also be a formidable weapon (like a LASER, only musical...did Heinlien already envision such an interaction?).

hehe

also check this:
'There have been other examples of "Musical Spheres" or "Cosmic Harmony" since the time of Kepler. For instance, the pitch of sound is analogous to the color of light; they are both caused by the frequencies of their waves. Because of this, the ratios between the frequencies of the four visible lines in the Hydrogen spectrum have been compared to the intervals in a musical chord. Hydrogen makes a dissonant chord, but a chord none-the-less. There is no doubt that any harmonies found in the Cosmos would have interested Kepler, but it is likely that this music of these new spheres that we are finding, partially through the use of the laws he discovered so long ago, would have been among his favorites.'

There is a dropdown list here that shows you where the lines of some elements show up on the redshift!

i dunno, maybe the distances between the lines on the redshift for each element can create different tones/chords if converted to sound.. I wonder if they would sound 'musical'
