Hi
I'm a newbie in Sonar, and these days I'm trying the demo in order to get acquainted with the program.
Now, I'm trying to use FL as a plugin inside Sonar and everything seems to go ok, I insert FL as a plugin, but when I press play on Sonar it doesn't sound anything. When I press play on FL it sounds, but not when I press play on Sonar.
what am I doing wrong? please any help will be welcome.

Try putting a MIDI track in first that has nothing to do with FL; even a single bar will do. This will give FL and Sonar something long enough to sync up to as far as clock goes.

yeah, SONAR needs to have data in a midi track or audio track or it won't run it's transport.
so you can add a dummy midi track and put a note way out at bar 100 or something.

I've tried that. But if I put a single bar, only a single bar from FL's track is played too. It seems I have to insert a midi track as long as the song in FL to make it sound the whole song...

ok Jamminfool and ew, thanks a lot.
But I have another question.
I've just tried the freeze function (which is something that interest me a lot) BUT the result is a glitchy and crackling copy. Why is this?

hmmm...not sure.
is this just with freezing FL, or does it occur with all VSTi's?
if it happens with other plugs, then try playing with increasing the buffer size on your soundcard.
if it only happens with FL, then i'm not sure (i don't have/use FL).

probably I'm being a fool.
I'll explain: my music pc is not the one I'm using now. Here I have FL and Sonar's demo installed just to try things but have directsound, crappy soundcard etc here.
I thought that freeze had nothing to do with that. Tomorrow I'll try it in my actual pc for music with my ASIO drivers and see if it freezes perfectly.
I've seen the cpu usage in the experiment I was doing comes down from 60% to 4% when freezing it...simply amazing, I think that's what will convince me to buy Sonar...

damn I've discovered what was the problem. The demo introduces a silence every 5 seconds; that's why my frozen track sounded bad. stupid me, one never ceases to be an ignorant.
thanks both men.

I found running FL under rewire was better than as a vsti, though the latest updates don't seem to work as rewire properly, so I went back to v4 or something
Then I realised there was a really good loop tool in Sonar called Cyclone so fruitypoops is now reduntandt anyways.

I remember using Cyclone in a couple things way back when Sonar 2 came out; it can be pretty useful.
Live ReWired into Sonar's the real answer. I use loops so seldom though that sometimes I wonder why I still have my Live license
