Well, all your technical know-how doesn't seem to have got you very far as regards DAW backup or disaster recovery.

I use Ghost and have completely rebuilt my DAW in 30 minutes - 27 minutes of which I spent listening to a CD while my apps installed.

I was going to PM you and tell you who I work for and what I do for a living. Since I don't want to say that out loud, may I just leave it at "I have substantial real-world disaster recovery experience." ?

Im not, but when the basic trouble-shooting method shows that Norton was obviously not the core problem here, there was no reason to throw that out there.
Granted, but nonetheless, even if Norton isn't contributing to your problem with FL, you are probably better off without it on your system. The advice was a sincere attempt at helping people out.

i Deleted it yesterday.

And I dont know where this rumor that it never gets off your system comes from. After uninstalling it, restarting, and running ccleaner, it's without a trace.

They aren't rumors. I've gone through the hassles, first hand, of fixing friends machines that have been screwed up by Norton. It's a nightmare to uninstall. At least it has been in the past. Perhaps the newer versions are better. I don't know. Do a Goolge search. This topic has been pretty widely discussed.

BTW, didn't you say that you had to use CCleaner to help take it off thoroughly?

I don't doubt you, but not having some sort of fast recovery option does seem a little unusual...

I dont think so. He PM'ed me too. Just a little know-how from his profession, methinks.

For what it's worth, I just uninstalled Norton 2005 with absolutely no problems. Took a look with Ccleaner (neat program) but it found no trace of Norton.

Wish I could help with your problem though.

I find that when a lot of people speak out against programs they are often just rehashing what they've heard other people say. Rumors flow so easily on the internet.

Norton takes up a lot of resources, and shoves it's roots in uncomfortable places, but also has the most thorough virus scan of any program i've used. All you really pay for it with is a bit of CPU and memory, which I have enough of to spare.

I've gathered all my installation discs and backed up all i need to re-install my OS. Just have to get a little bit of information from some threads and I''l be ready to go. I'll have my new, cleansed system ready by the end of tonight.

To be honest I dont think this will help the problem, but here's to hoping.
