alot of software delays try to emulate old style sounds... hi freq cutof, saturation and so on....

but what if i want my own effect on every feedback ?

one great example of a hd delay with this feature is the moogerfooger MF-104Z

from the site http://www.moogmusic.com
Switchable Internal Loop / External Loop selects the feedback path. In the Internal Loop position the feedback path goes directly from the output of the delay back to the input. In the External Loop position the feedback path goes through the Loop Out Jack and the Loop In Jack. This gives you an opportunity to insert signal processing in the feedback path, thereby enabling processing of the echoes as they are generated. Very cool with another Moogerfooger (unbelievable with the MuRF).

... now think of a VST delay where every delay feedback line goes throu a reverb... it will make it sound like the echo is going deeper and deeper for every passage of the reverb.

ok, if someone is programming this type of delay, it should also keep the internal loop in the buffer so that the external and internal delay can be mixed...

in this case, modulate the wet/dry of internal and external loop will be a very cool effect (mostly done today with two audio tracks and volume automation)

the main host would be something like energyxt where the in/out are easy to see and route

cheers

Give Ronin a try. Sadly, it can't be done in stereo, but it has two delay blocks with modular feedback paths, so you can do it with a mono signal.

I made a request to Audio Damage for a second stereo in, but since most hosts can't handle feedback paths, the economics of it weren't particularly viable for them.

thanks shamann, mono ehmmm... i will send them an email too

btw, ronin is at http://www.audiodamage.com/ for the lazy ones

No need for a dedicated plug, you can do it manually in energyXT using Senderella and VoxengoAudioDelay ;)

PP- True, but a delay with a vst host built in would rock the house!

You can do two instances to get stereo. The only down side is that it makes parameter adjustments a bit of a pain, since you would have to do it via MIDI for simultaneity.

get buzz or die tryin ;)
aka rktic. demoscener (Farbrausch, Holon, MFX, Still), sound designer, ux-dude, sth @AudioRealism, human synthesizer—not necessarily in that order.

I haven't been so thrilled with the results I've gotten using Senderella for feedback paths. Seems a rather hit or miss affair.

Audiomulch supports feedback, so I don't need to do it often in eXT, luckily.

I've actually been tempted to write a delay with VST host for feedback at one point (as a VST exercise), but the eXT+Senderella way worked so well that I decided it's not worth the effort. I'd post an image of how I set it up, but the webspace I used to use for that just went down. Any ideas for a free web storage?

Cheers! So, here it goes:

The feedback amount is set using the Amount slider on the Senderella (send). Send and insert effects on the feedback loop go into appropriate energyXTE instances.
