Hello to the Readers of this SOS message

I have a problem, that is, whenever I TRY to use VSTi I get the following error message:

"No more mixer channels!"

I don't know what it means and I don't know what I can do to use the VSTi. I don't have any channels occupied so why why why do I get that error message?

Thanks for reminding me!

My host is Cubase VST 5.1 trying to use Absynth 3 as VSTi, EMU 1820M, Win XP, Intel P4 3.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, and my hair colour is black. I have tried using the search engine but couldn't find an answer - maybe I need new glasses.

I'm not a Cubaser, but will throw this out: Are you able to insert other VSTis into your project? If Aby is the only one you have, you can download all kinds of free stuff or try a commercial demo. http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php will help you to find something.

[edit] My fur is black with two lengthwise white stripes.

Sorry I've got sx2.2 it broke the bank (still 1.5 yrs later) but yeah since I've got it I have had no probs ever loading any vst and I'm a vst slut

I load everything I can get my hands on just out of curiosity.

Have you perchance got something like P5 installed as well? This is a common enough error message in 5.1 when a 2nd app is using Rewire. At least, this is the only time it ever happened to me with 5.1.

I don't have Cakewalk Project 5 installed. The only other software that I use is Reason, but at the time that I try to use VSTi I do not have Reason/ReWire open.

Hm. Just a WAG but... *shrug* could Reason not have closed down completely last time you ran it? Sometimes a program's GUI will vanish but the program itself can still be running (or locked up) in the background. Windows Task Manager will let you find out.
