I've been postponing this 'upgrade' for months, mostly because of its steep price. And thinking, "Yo, chicken! Come on! How much loop snipping you doin'? You really need CD Architect? Or their lousy convolution thing?" :?

Well, you just gave me another reason to pin my money to my underwear! :hihi:

PS: Caco, thanks for ChordME! Looks very helpful for simplifying those piano roll chores.

If you think SoundForge 8 has problems with some plug-ins (and I know it does from personal experience), stay away from Acid Pro 5, which is far worse. And there's no reason for this other than the way these apps are coded.

Caco: Nice plug. Really. :D

Your plugin is a great idea !

If your are open for suggestions would it be possible to
enable save to fxb/fxp ? Currently it doesnt seem possible !?
Also a nice option would be to have a transpose function.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers

Yes I like the idea of being able to transpose the chords and perhaps just transposing individual notes from the chords to allow inversions. Will try and sort out the fxb/fxp problem as well.

Any further suggestions are welcome :)

Couple of other ideas:

- Arpeggio playing
- Mimic the Yamaha two finger chord system .. see here:

**UPDATE to v1.1

Following a feature request ChordME can now transpose the generated chords up or down octaves by clicking and dragging on the values next to the chord name. Each of the chords can also be transposed independantly from each other.

**The chords can now also be bypassed to allow just the original midi note to be output and transposed if required

Let me know if you find any problems or have any other feature requests :)

Cool thanks nice job :D :D

Let me say that I've used nearly every audio app released (Mac and PC) and I prefer Acid 5 Pro. It has the most clean and easy GUI to work with and i'm able to get a lot of work done FAST.

I've had no probs with any VST plug in Acid 5.

The only reason Sound Forge crashed on that guy is the fact that SOUND FORGE IS ONLY AN AUDIO EDITOR (NOT A DAW/SEQUENCER) AND DOESN'T USE VSTi (only VST Effects).

If you purchased SF and don't know the difference between vst/vsti then that's the price for being a freakin' NOOB.

If I remember correctly you set the OUT of the midi track you want to create chords from to ChordME then on a second midi track set the IN to ChordME and the OUT to the VSTi you want to produce audio.

Hope this works okay for you :)

I loved ACID myself, but there were 3 main things that made me switch:

________________________________________

1. You cannot put volume effects on MIDI.

In FL Studio, the mixer track combines both the MIDI notes AND the sound, so that effects can be put on the sound, such as volume fades in/out.

---

2. ACID has the most terrible of CPU usage and occasionally, when it crashes, it crashes badly, so that you need to restart your computer 2x to make it like it was before

---

3. ACID takes FOREVER to load up (it scans VST folder at startup) and the VST search function is still EXTREMELY tedious and long

__________________

I think ACID is great for something like a guitar mix or a loop-based mix, where audio is easy to see and since it's audio and not MIDI, it works fine. For MIDI-based compositions, FL is great

_____________________________________________________________________

Thank you Caco for ChordWorks--It is terrific

I'd go along with this general advice. FL is good at MIDI, runs VSTs nicely. ACID is the king of loopland, but runs VSTs very grudgingly. I use both, and am starting to see how energyXT represents a 'third way'.

I'm kinda stubbornly resisting getting sucked into the NI/Propellerhead/Cakewalk, etc. universe of monster-priced hosts-plus-packages. At least, for now. Later in 2006, I may think differently  .

And again, this is a neat little package. :D Thanks!

I originally made this for my own use to reduce the amount of clicking I needed to do in the piano roll but I thought I'd post it here incase anybody else found it useful.

ChordME is a midi VST that converts incoming midi notes into full chords. Different chords can be assigned to each note across the octave so that complex chord patterns can quickly be built up from simple midi lines.

To use it you will need a host capable of routing midi.

**EDIT seems to work fine in energyXT, Cubase SX, Bidule, Tracktion 2 and FL Studio.

If anybody with soundforge wants to try an effect version of ChordME rather than the instrument version let me know and I'll sort one out for you.
