That demo was done by ToTc.
He told me he hand programmed it into the piano roll.
It uses a note set and not a chord / strum set.
We are planning to provide some Midi files to show this sort of stuff. Hang in there for these goodies.
There are a few strumming sets in ManyGuitar as well though ....but not the 12 string.

..if i only could do hand programming in realtime..
...anybody tried a strumming device like Yamah EZ-Guitar or Charlie Lab Digitar with Manyguitar...i wonder how it sounds..?

I'm imagining an arpeggiator that does an intelligent mapping between input voicing and output where the output is voiced realistically for guitar; hammered strings, glisses, alternate tunings, the whole works here. I'd go further and imagine the mapper could take melodic data, and map it to realistic string lines, perhaps with velocity driven parameterizations that let the player decide among the various options that exist for any note played on the guitar neck. I don't know how much of this mapping is really deterministic, or how big a job such a thing would be. I just think it would be cool to have a way to enter realistic, playable guitar parts without having to think so much, without having to do things that are basically impossible on a keyboard, and without needing to enter the data by hand.
Maybe there's a niche, and I should start working on a plugin?

Wow - that 12 string strumming example is incredible. YES - please release or show us how to do that!!! I have been looking for a virtual guitarist that could do EXACTLY that kind of playing. What a time-saver that would be. I already knew that Manyguitar was indespensible, but with strumming and arpeggio presets (or MIDI template files) that are very realistic, well that moves Manyguitar into the MUST HAVE category! Please release some TUTORIALS on how to do this. ToTC rocks!!!

I did mention this already in the ManyGuitar Feature request thread .... The Fact that we do have a Midi Player / Groove engine on that FR list shows it is a big wish here on my part.
We have been collecting some Guitar midi files for a while now. In fact a few KvR members have helped us here in trade for our products.
We still need more Midi files though....
I will offer again to anybody with a Midi Guitar that wants to contribute a few guitar midi files in trade for some Manytone Product. Just email me if you want to take me up on this.
So .... expect something soon ..... Probably we will release a few midi files to start ... Maybe a Tutorial or 2 as well.
Cheers

hey tkay77
I am actually making some of the midi files using my EZ AG.
If i come up with anything cool i will post a Sound Demo.
I actually enjoy playing the strings and cellos in ManyStation with my EZ AG Midi Guitar just as much as using it for the Guitars and Basses in ManyGuitar. For the money the EZ AG is a pretty cool controller. I got mine new for about $200 range.
So .... I still need more Midi Guitarists here to help out. Or even if you don't have a Midi Guitar and you are capable of programming Guitar phrases , strums etc...
The offer is in my above post.
Cheers

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Glad you liked the demo. As Manytone stated, it was programmed by hand in the midi editor (piano roll). I will make more and send them and the one i used for the demo over to Manytone so he can include them in the package eventually. That way you'll be able to look at the midi file directly and see exactly what i did to get the sound.

Hey ToTc,
You talented person you - how about a strumming tutorial? With the associated midi file included would be magical!

Umm...I'd love to put something like that together. Perhaps I will. It wouldn't be for a little while though, as i have a few "Monster" projects on my desk that demand my attention.

It is long winded to progam it all in,in the key editor in SL3,but it can be done, you just need to know your chord notes, and most important also is the spacing and aligning of the notes on the down and up
strums, which need to be really close together, and aligned also to the beats of the bar at the chosen place.
It is fun though i found.
I managed to add a nice 12 string to my instrumental,
but i'm sure Manytone will make this easier soon.

Don't forget to tweak the velocity on them....to simulate the inherent volume changes when you strum a guitar..certain strums are heard more than others. Also, make certain notes in the strummed chord just a hair off of where they should be. not enough to make the note a beat off or anything, just a hair to better simulate the nuances of strumming. Try changing up the lenghts of the notes too, in a subtle manner.Timerider wrote:It is long winded to progam it all in,in the key editor in SL3,but it can be done, you just need to know your chord notes, and most important also is the spacing and aligning of the notes on the down and up
