Trying to make WusikSND file with Manytone Mapper

Hello all,

Ok, I have Magix Music Editor 10 - not the greatest audio program on the planet, but since it does derive from Samplitude (not a bad program at all), I don't mind using it. Further, it has loop and marker editing features and since I own the program, it makes sense to use it.

So I have this nice drumroll in 44.1khz, 16bit sample - really nice sounding. I edited the markers and got the loop points I wanted. I exported that as a wave file with markers written into the file. I used Manytone Mapper to map the one wav file to the C3 key and made the range just that 1 key (no need to span it across lots of keys).

Here's my dilemma. The sound as edited is normalized and sounds nice and loud with a nice stereo effect. After becoming a wusikSND file, I open Wusikstation and use the init patch to start fresh and then I load the drumroll.WusikSND file into position 1 and I press the C3 key. It plays, but the volume is WAY LOW - I mean a whisper of its former self. Second, it does not loop - it plays like a one shot. Also, even though I set the range for just that one key, it's still mapped across the entire keyboard.

How do I (1) make it nice and loud for Wusik and (2) how do I allow that sample to loop infinitely by pressing the c3 key (the key it's mapped to) and ONLY the key(s) it's mapped to?

Thank you for your help.

Mike Felker

P.S. I will be asking this in the manytone forum as well - so no one FREAK OUT as a result - thank you.

OK, I figured out that I could max out the volume in wusikstation's mixer and then give it an eq boost AND a boost with a chorus effect and that brings the volume almost to where it was initially. So that's figured out. But I have no idea how to make it loop forever - there seems to be no loop button or option.

Here's the file for anyone that wishes to help me. Please ignore the stupid ads and you have to wait 12-15 seconds before it will let you download. Good time for you to pour yourself a quick drink!!!

Okay, I'm seeing what I can do. Checking out the file you posted...

Greg, I have already found that the SND file doesn't have loop points, and have sent Mike a version which does. Might save you a needless task :)

Thanks guys - what program do you use to MAKE loop points and save them as such? What's the processed involved?

Thanks again.

for that matter, how did you re-opne the WusikSND file? What program can load those or are they just renamed .wav files?

Okay, I messed around with it a little and here's what I've come up with:

- If you only have 1 sample compiled in the WusikSND format, it assigns it to the entire key range automatically. In WusikStation can you import single WAV files as the soundset rather than a WusikSND file? It seems like this would be an explanatory "feature" for why it suddenly uses the full range for the sample.

- Any chance you could send me the sample file? Maybe the loop points aren't working correctly when you made them in the sound editor.

The latest version of the mapper can import WusikSND and DashSND files (it exports the WAV files, too!), but right now it doesn't save the loop points when you export them, which is something I am currently working on.

An additional note: when I was importing the WusikSND file you posted it didn't list any loop points like it usually does...

Greg, helping Mike in the Wusik thread I came to the same conclusion. I think somewhere in the process his loop points went missing. At least they didn't show up in ESC.

Would you like me to send you the looped version?

I was just testing manymapper so that I could make a soundset of loops per key (so that there would be, say, 61 loops per WusikSND file - a nice handy way to compact a bunch into 1.) So I just tried 1 little ole sample I had lying around. So, you are saying that if I added one more layer then that sample would have remained on that one key only?

Mike

P.S. I used Magix originally and then resaved in audition. Either way, I like the looks of ESC and may buy it tonight.

How much is Extreme Sample Coverter? It seems their shopping cart is down?

Yes. Apparently if you have only one sample in the WusikSND file it won't use your defined note range. So add another sample and it will adhere to the note ranges.

Yes, the purchase page has been unavailable for a while. I believe ESC is $50 USD, though apparantly there have been discounts in the past.

STILL down? That's many months! Is it impossible to purchase this? What alternatives are there?
