Hi

I am seriously thinking of getting a Tablet and also this program (cash flow problems as usual.

Can people that are using a Tablet with this program, please add their 2 cents worth as to how suitable their Tablet is for use with the program. Give up a bit of info, like make and model number and if it works ok or not. :)

Thanks in advance. All advice greatfully received and to be honest somebody else is bound to be looking for similar info I'm sure

I definitely would like to know how this is coming along with those using it.
Info on how good the response is etc.
Give me freedom or give me television

Great initiative

Allow me to contribute my own experience:

I use a cheapo Medion 41217 tablet, that has the main advantage of being A4 size. It uses similar hardware as the Aiptek tablets that are also quite reasonably priced.

I've had no problems with the drivers once I found the right ones and installed them a couple of times :-)

I really miss the tilt and orientation information - this one has only pressure sensitivity - good enough for most purposes but I lack some expressiveness when I use it to control violin samples etc.

The response is really fast - certainly faster than the Midi baud rate, so expect no problems there. Same with accuracy. It eats the battery in the pen quicker than I expected, but I'll just get rechargables, or stop leaving the pen directly on the tablet surface :)

I have a small Wacom as well, but I threw away the pen, and since you can't install more than one tablet driver at a time, I can't use them both - note that If you have to Aiptek tablets it'll work just fine, since they can use the same driver.

I'll collect and publish this info on the website when as soon as there's something to collect and publish.

Hi Ohm,

I had some illusion of the software writer for this program having some sort of Rolls Royce Graphics Tablet. :hihi: Oh well, at least we know that it works on allsorts, that's good to know.

Is A4 the minimum size you would recommend ?

I've just looked for Tilt on Graphics Tablets and run up against a hefty price increase for one of these. I guess that's a long way from my Christmas wish list for now...

Keep up the good work Ohm, it's appreciated by all us mere mortals.

Dunc :)

Has anyone any experience of TRUST Tablets. I'm looking at a Trust 1200 V2 for a possible Tablet.

Its an A4 Tablet around the £55 mark and does look like it would be suitable but, I guess that experience counts for a lot...anyone got anything to add.

Thanks

Dunc :)

well, i am using an aiptek. size is about A4. i think the model number is 1200U or something along those lines.
it's been working fine so far, only downside is, that is doesn't have a cover under which i could slide a setup of tablet 2 midi, and that it's only pressure sensitive - not rotation or tilt for me.

right now i am only using it as a big theremin pad, though, so everything's fine for me. :)

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you want lots of controllers you need a big tablet, if you want to play single instruments like theramins, rotation and tilt is probably more important than size.

I thought it was just me interested in touchscreens!

I've just worked out how to use my existing PDA as an X-Y midi controller (think Korg Chaos) .See http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=.

....ah. my mistake. i saw the word tablet and thought tablet-pc, sorry. But I still think touchscreens are ideal for musicians and I'm amazed they're not discussed more here....

I downloaded Tablet 2 Midi yesterday to try out with my Wacom Graphire 4. The software locked up and the pen and mouse were frozen.

Any ideas?

Hmm... there must be a bug. The software is still beta, and there are some things related to Wacom that I need to implement differently - perhaps it's that. Look out for updates - the next will be in the end of this month at the latest.
You are running windows xp right?

Windows XP Home.sp2, Athlon XP+ 1600, 1Gb ddr2100 ram, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128 mb dual head video card, Audiophile 2496 audio card.

I will for sure be watching for updates and trying them out-I REALLY like this idea and want to see it done!

good to hear - I definately plan to finish this project soon - Would be an awful waste of development time if it wasn't.
I'll probably email you in 10 days time with a test version - safest way of verifying that the bug is fixed.
