Hello all,

Is it possible to control the master tempo with CC?
Or do I always have to load a Sequencer and put it in live mode?
I would like to control the some VSTi's in the standalone version.

Thanks,

only the sequencer's tempo from what i can see (but i could be wrong)

I can't think of any reason why the main tempo should behave any different from the sequencer's tempo control. Hopefully, we'll get control of that sooner than later.

Personally, I'd really love to see anything that can be modified in eXT be automatable via CC!

You can only control a sequencer's tempo from an envelope. OR from it's host's tempo in sync mode.

You cannot currently change a tempo (SA or sequencer) via CC. You cannot ajust the main window tempo except with a mouse (or if it is a vst via sync mode).

I would like to see CC to tempo in the sequencer, only because I want to make a plugin that adjusts the tempo to sync with dynamic live audio input.

soma you can adjust tempo via CC if the sequencer is in "live" mode, unfortunately live mode isn't really perfect yet, but still very usable for certain purposes.

Oh yeah that's right! Hmm.. I already made a plug that will adjust the tempo via CC given an incoming beat... I'll have to dig it up.

if you mean your tap tempo one, then I've found it works best to set the range on the live sequencer from 10-250 or there abouts.

Post

Yeah that's the one! But I think I made an update the will listen to audio and find the beats within a certain frequency range and use that as taps. (Or is that the version I posted here?)

Post

don't think so, I only remember the one where you tapped tempo with the mouse.

Wait! Is that a simple tap-tempo funciton that sets a flat tempo?

Or is it a plug-in that will see MIDI hits and adjust the tempo as you continue to tap, creating a tempo map? Which I REALLY want! Which will make me discontinue thoughts of buying ProTools simply for its Beat Detective fuction.

The second one! I'll post an example in a minute.

The first sequencer I am tapping the tempo I want. (the example is a bit extreme!) It is fed into the tap tempo plug. This controls the tempo of the sequencer playing the live file. (This could be a whole song just switched to live mode.)
The transport ex on the midi track 2 of the tempo seq. is there just to start the other sequencer when the the tempo one starts.
You could add my CC glider in between the tap tempo and the live sequence to get smoother ramps in tempo.

Please give me feedback on the tap tempo plug...

DAMN! It would be so cool if this works. I've been obsessing insanely about this issue for almost three months now.

Regardless of how this turns out -- Thanks, soma!

...Grrr, gotta drive to Houston now. Will be out of pocket until late tonight...I really want to make this work....

Just let me know if it's what you were thinking of. I'd love to help you out.

just wondering if you knew that Soma_TapTempo_Alpha.zip has 127 midi channels & only 16 cc's?

:hihi:

honk!

:?: Don't know what you mean but 127 ch and 16 cc sounds like 1 cc on one chanel x 16 ports...
