Freeztar is our promo man. :) I'm sure he can spare one.

BTW Scott your post over at the pgm forum brought over a couple of people according to the stats at cdbaby.

It's important that everyone try to post the press release or at least some info about the CD (It's out! I'm in! Go buy! Ka-poof!) in order to drag people to our website and also to the CDBaby site.

kovacs, did they buy or did they just snoop? I've asked the people I beg to buy the CD to tell me if they go ahead and order one. As far as I know 2 of my contacts have purchased (disappointing in my book), but hey, 35-40 bucks for American Red Cross and HfH that they normally wouldn't have received.

I've been including the text that's right on our CDbaby page for a fairly short lead-in to the sales pitch.

hello, :-)
a very easy and really important way to help the Chrysalid cd sales is, for the people that have received the double cd already, to write a review in the cdbaby chrysalid page!
simple, but very helpful! it is these reviews that people read when they visit the cdbaby chrysalid cd page!
best regards, :-)

utm, you have in your signature:

I believe a spelling change is in order (please forgive me, both my parents and all siblings were/are teachers).

'Dilitants' should become 'Dilettantes' to be properly spelled. ref.: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=dilettante

Actually, it's a word Beardedone coined. A militant dilettante = a dilitant!

I stand corrected.

Hey, some good news - I just got off the phone with our local town weekly newspaper, and they want to do an interview on the topic of the CD project.

It's not huge circulation (something like 2500 subscribers), but they said they want to do a feature on it - which means it will be one of a few stories for the week. I do know that the people that subscribe to this paper read it cover to cover - it's a place to see your kid's soccer team shots, friends and family around town, etc. I'm hoping it will be good for a few sales. Interview should happen in the next week or two; not sure about publishing date. I'll let everyone know how it goes, and post links to the story here (they are on-line - you can check them out now if you want to know a little about where I live - http://www.clarkstonnews.com/ )

Still haven't heard back from my radio contacts yet.

We need something to fire up the sales engine - I don't know what it is yet.

I just got my copy and am looking forward to playing it in the car in just a few minutes.

Just wanted to pop in and say that the packaging is very nice and I hope it sounds as good as it looks :hihi:.

Awesome news Scott!!! I can't wait to read it!!

Since your attempt was so successful would you be so kind as to share how you approached them? Perhaps it would give people an easy format to follow when making requests in their home towns. ;)

Local newspapers with limited circulation are begging for local news stories. That's what they thrive on. I simply contacted the editor (who also functions as one of the reporters) via his e-mail address which was attached to one of the on-line articles. I put the blurb in the e-mail that I lifted directly from the CDBaby sales site, and told him that I was one of the artists - recorded my song in the basement right here in the hometown.

I stated that if they were interested, an article could help us sell more CD's which will in the end help the folks affected by the hurricane. Nothing more complicated than that. A couple days later, he called and even apologized for taking so long to get back to me!!

If we all try to sell 10-20 CDs, we'll sell out and we'll have made what, $17*500=$8500 or so for charity - that's pretty cool. That was the point at the beginning.

Unfortunately, noone in my family has bought any yet - but most of them aren't even on broadband so they can't hear the demo tracks to begin with.

I just sent an email to my local paper...great idea scott...some people here know (but I don't speak of it often) that I was the bus driver in a bad school bus accident that left one little ( 8 years old) girl very injured (but she made a full recovery)...at the time I had to sneak around the media...I was on everything for a few days...however at the time as the accident was just that, a lot of the people offered up all kind of emotional support for me as well. Buy chance it will be 10 years ago next week. Now my local Newspaper (the lowel sun) has a larger circulation...but the song is written from a poem by my father who had an awesome reputation at the Lowell Division of Raytheon in management.

So I'm hoping the two things might stir up some local interest and perhaps the paper will write something...I'm not holding my breath, but let's all keep our fingers crossed...(again when it comes to times like this my real name John Hinckley can come into play)...here's to hoping :D

Okay, so I was thinking about marketing and came up with . . . I mean, is this a brain flare or what? . . .

POD CASTS!

As in, if you know of any popular hip pod casters, why not contact THEM?! Seems like it would be a better way of getting to people than the tired old radio format (radio stations are so locked into their commercial sponsors that they rarely give time to projects like ours anymore).

OR . . . Does anyone here do podcasts themselves? Why don't we put together a podcast of our own?

Come on. You know you want to!
