at the end of this month a friend of mine is getting married and I'm sorting out the disco. To do this we have asked all the people that are coming to the wedding to select there 3 favorite tunes... and the disco music will comprise of all these tunes. I am currently sorting through the tunes and will start to create playlists of the mp3's. However I have a couple of problems.
Firstly volumes. The volumes between tracks can vary a lot... This of course can be a problem for the dancefloor! I have downloaded SqrSoft Limiter plugin for winamp. Does anyone have any experience of that? is it any good? are there any other good alternatives?
Secondly track lengths... There are some trackes that are way to long.. I can see the people dancing getting bored halfway through. So does anyone know of a way you can add to the playlist details of when you want to fade out a track and bring in the next?. Is this possible with winamp?

Well i don't think there is a way to cut or fade a song without stopping winamp, but with mp3gain you can get all mp3's to the same volume. unfortunately it's no plugin.

I've got a few ideas for this one mate. First thing todo is run the mp3 files (all of them) through MP3Gain application, this will help with the volume problems. Also consider using SqrSoft Limiter too after doing this.
Regarding track lengths, their really isn't anything you can do about this other than create the mix of track's before hand using a multi-tracker (like mix meister or even your host) and trim, beat match the tracks using this method. A basic wave editor like goldwave would also do the trick.
If your going to be near the PC you could just the crossfade plugin and when you think a track is dragging on a bit just double click the next one and the crossfading plugin with make it seem more seamless (fades)...

I've just been trying out the SqrSoft and it works a lot better than I thought it would.. It sounds a bit like the processors they use on the radio... perfect for a disco...
just the x fade to work out now

For me winamp aint as good as it was 4 years ago. Now is will stop playing for a second if I move it or close windows and stuff.
