Does anyone know any resources where I can get information on this side of the business? For example, if I wanted to sell some of my tunes to be used in commercials or anywhere that needs music. Like, all those cheezy little jingles you hear on those low budget local advertisements.

I'm sure that these people can't exactly make ends meet with doing this alone, but surely some money is to be made?

my friend makes a living from making jingles and background music for radio & tv. there are a few websites out there where you can upload your music, the one i know off the top of my head is...

Great. I downloaded a 'free track' to hear what kind of stuff they are in to, now my explorer crashes everytime my mouse touches this file...
