i'm searching for a easy to use and free sequencer which must can load vst effects and vst instruments.

Buzz of Psycle are possibly the only free ones...? They are trackers, though.

CM Muzys is good and comes with every Computer Music.

If 39 EUR is not too much, it gets you energy XT which IMHO is one of best hosts currently available.

what about VSThost by Tobybear?. Thats either free or really cheap...

i got cubase and i will produce with it further. but i need a sequencer cause i want to produce a track only with freeware to demonstrate that freeware can sounds good too.

got tobibears minihost a sequencer??? i think not. but i will check it out.

Audacity would be a good one for audio recording, but i dont think it can use vst instruments.

Minihost from Tobybear is donationware (free but you should/could send 20$ or what you want if you use it much). A great great host, but at the moment loads only a VST-instrument OR a Vst-effect.

EnergyXt isn't exactly free, but has a wonderful sequencer (and very good tutorials from DarkStar and others, have a look at the EnergyXT-forum right here at KVR). You can load all your stuff into the demo, and even save anything you did with it. So you could use it as a sequencer, and just in case you WOULD decide to buy it in the future (it's 39 Euro, the best I ever got for this price in the world) you can load all the songs you made in the past into it. The program is much more than a sequencer, but it's a sequencer as well, and the demo is free :-) and doesn't expire or so.

I have done a similar project recently.

Kristal Audio Engine is a great and free host for strictly audio (no VSTi support) multi-track recording. It is designed in such a way to be similar to cubase. It's very good and has ASIO support. For free, the level of quality and design is excellent.

Get it here -> http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/

If you've got XP, it's maybe worth trying BeroTracker. It can load VSTis. Has got a Piano roll and a tracker view.

Unfortunately, it's too heavy on resources to be used on a 9x system.

BUZZ

Free small powerful and the best VST loaders ever! (Does DX too). Internal controllers, tons of free instruments and effects that kick ass. Live pattern triggering. Fastest way to make music once you get used to it.

Drawbacks: If you don't like trackers or love paino rolls or Vegas, you won't like it. If you like lots of pictures and colors you won't like it.
