That film scared the crap out of me as a kid.
Actually the siren is from Day of the Dead when the zombies are lowered into the complex.

I know the The Legend of Hell House has a ton of great samples. Skinny Puppy snagged their 'church in hell' from it, but there is still great ones left over. The music was worked on by Delia Derbyshire, so if that made it in the sampler it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Of course, the first couple of Hellraiser movies have a lot of samples. Another great source of samples is the Millenium TV show, Altered States, and Nightbreed has great shrieks and howls.

Is there an easy way to rip audio from a dvd? Or should I just hook it up to the computer?

Some more at random:

The Mechinist: "I haven't slept in over a year.."

Momento: "I'll get the jump on that f**ker.."

Poltergiest II "God is in his HOOOLLLYY-Tem-pllllle.."

And then there's the Amity films..

I was gonna normalize the snippets in Sound Forge but I figured that I'd leave a bit of "handle" on the edits and let you deal with the final trimming.

I take it that 16-bit 44KHz wav is ok?

How much UL space do you reckon you have?

I grabbed some samples recently from an X-files episode called 'Irresistable' about a necrophiliac/death fetishist.

These are the actual quotes:

'A necrophiliac episode'

'An amalgam of her idea of evil'

'An emersion in a cold environment'

'For the record it is also my opinion that outside of child homocide which may be more tragic and heinous, this is one of the most angry and dehumanizing murders imaginable'

'Be afraid'

'Death is a recorded event. For reasons natural or unnatural, when a body ceases to function the cause of the effect can be cleary reconstructed. A body has a story to tell.'

<cop noise>

'creepy as possible'

<girl crying 1,2,3,4>

'There are reports of people who had been in the power of Jeffry Dahmer who actually claimed that he shape-shifted during those hours when they were held hostage'

'Death fetishist'

'There's a deeper psychosis at work here, it's an unfathomable hatred'

'A person who had a certain sexual desire to whatever he was doing to these corpses'

<scared woman>'Don't you come near me'

<scared woman>'Don't you touch me'

'Fetishists collect dead things. Fingernails, hair.'

'Freak who's been digging up corpses'

'It's almost as if it's not enough that they're dead, he's also got to defile them'

'He may resort to homocide to procure his corpses'

'How many bodies does that make?'

'If the victim was strangled, an examination of the veins and eyes will reveal this'

'It's been said that the fear of the unknown is an irrational response to the excesses of the imagination, but our fear of the everday, of the lurking stranger, and the sound of footfalls on the stairs, the fear of violent death and the primitive impulse to survive, is as real as the acceptance that it could happen to you'

'I've read about cases of desecrating the dead before, but this is the first time I've seen it'

'You think you can look into the face of pure evil, and then you find yourself paralyzed by it'

'He's probably worked at a mortuary or cemetary'

'oh my god'

'Once he gets the taste of a warm body, he's going to want more'

'People wonder why it took them so long to catch this kid in milwaukee, thought someone should have noticed he was killing all those young boys, truth is, no one ever believed it could happen'

<woman upset at the sight of a body>

'The corpses he dug up were all young women'

'The hair was cut from the heads of two of the bodies, from the third one the fingernails were pulled out with what looks like needle-nose pliers'

'I know that the world is full of predators just as it has always been'

'This kind of a monster isn't made over night'

'Until we meet again in god's kingdom'

'I think we all feel an empty place'

Etc.

If you want some or all, let me know, I'll upload them.

...yeah- it DOES have some great lines! Only one comes directly to mind, but upon acknowledging *something* is out there one team member asks:
Q - "what the f__k is that?"
A - " I don't know, but it's weird and pissed off!"

I just love that line :D

Ah yes! a Herschell Gordon Lewis fan? If so- ya really need to check out the DVD for Blood Feast. If the movie wasn't surreal enough shot in garish 60's BIGGER THAN LIFE color, there an extra on the disc that is NOT to be missed. It's a short "infommercial" in which the actor who plays the detective in Blood Feast is a bumbling host who learns that value of carving meat correctly. I kid you not. While quite informative, that short just seems either far too out of place ...or completely appropriate in pairing with Blood Feast.
Either way - it's bizarre
