A friend pointed me in the direction of this service that streams tracks to you in a semi-random way, based on simple search criteria you specify. Its either free(ad supported) or very cheap subscription.
Its a very simple idea but i probably won't explain it well so just try it, it costs nothing and you don't even have to register with email to try it for a little bit.

I encourage you all to at least try it, it seems like a very good idea for true music fans, as you may well find new stuff you enjoy as well as being able to listen to existing tracks you know and love.

I typed in Tool and it played Tool, I'm happy with it. It let's see what it plays next.

Isnt this kind of illegal service? I mean, you're listening to good quality music for free, so, how is this legal? With yahoo and stuff, you're listening to bad quality, but this is just like CD-quality to me, so, what gives?

I subscribe to last.fm, and I almost never dl mp3's from the net anymore.. It's all the music I love, at home, on my lappy and at work at all times..
I hope internet radio gadgets appear soon so I can have my personal station in my pocket..

Webradio doesn't have to be poor quality, they just can't do things like publish advance playlists or play multiple tracks from the same CD in a row. This doesn't sound CD quality to me, though. And I doubt it is, it becomes cost/bandwidth prohibitive to constantly stream high quality audio.

To comment on the Pandora site, you can still register outside the US, just make up the US-info part.. 
And it's ad-financed, but if you have adblock, you can block the ad-frame.. It's a good site though, but as said, I prefer last.fm..

I currently subscribe to several services (Emusic, Sirius and XM Satellite, MusicNet) not to mention a few freebie online services, but this could easily replace most of those. I've been listening to Pat Metheny (my personal favorite) and I've been getting some other great stuff that I didn't know existed.
