Back awhile ago, I thought it might behoove the Chrysalid effort to setup a MySpace site to help shill the CDs. I'm not MySpace savvy, but perhaps there is someone here that is?

Also, did we get the digital distribution deal through CD baby - so that the tunes are available on iTunes and what not?

The digital distribution is set up but it takes about three weeks (at least) for it to show up at the different distribution channels.

I saw pHz posted on some other threads today - welcome back Rob.

By the way, utm and Rob, the CD design turned out great. The graphics printed on the discs themselves look particularly cool - with the clouds seeming 3D in the afternoon half-light.

I hate MySpace 'cause if you browse there for any time at all you get all kinds of spyware plopped on your PC.

But . . . even so that's probably a great idea.

So is the idea of doing a Chrysalid PODCAST or seeing if existing and popular PODCASTERS would be interested in featuring the Chrysalid project.

How's the cash handled in this case? iTunes would get a cut of downloads but would our cut automatically go to charity or would one of the organizers have to do the donations and all that?

and what's more, should people be able to buy singels from the CD or jsut the complete album.

In itunes I think they can buy single songs. If we want digital distribution we have to follow the rules of the channels...

All the money made is deposited in my bank account starting three weeks after the first sale.

A local magazine has agreed to put a piece about the CD in the next issue, all i need is approx 100 words and a pic, anyone of you lot fancy doing that (or maybe you have a kinda press release already?)

Its a free mag that goes into most of the pubs, clubs and shops around here.

Free advertising, every little helps....

utm,

Any chance of you doing one of your cool collage photo mash-ups with the pictures of all the collaborating artists on it?

BTW,

My interview with the local paper here in Clarkston, Michigan is tonight. As soon as the article is available on-line, I'll post back with it here.

Not that I don't appreciate the compliment, but because of the varying availability, size and quality of artists' pics, I think it would probably be better to use the official album art when dealing with press and news publications. The low-res versions are here:

I could generate a hi-res PDF for printing purposes later...

Local Clarkston News reporter came over last night and spent an hour doing an interview, took a couple of photos etc.

The article should be published in their Wednesday, January 18, 2005 edition and should be available on-line soon thereafter.

Some facts I want to get straight for his article:

1. What is the final official proceeds that we make on each disc now that are being sold through CDBaby? I told him it was $17-$21 per disc, depending on shipping cost to the destination. Was that correct?

2. Is it o.k. to use the low-res images in news articles?

The actual income now is $21 per CD. CD Baby takes $4 out of our $25, customer pays shipping.

The actual income per CD ordered in the preorder phase is much less - about $10/CD (because the $25 per CD covered production, manufacturing, CD Baby fees AND shipping).
