Just realizing that some of my favourit acoustic + synth songs use 12-string acoustic (Tangerine Dream, Force Majeure & New Musik, Anywhere).
What are your 12-string acoustic favorits?

Genesis "Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett" era tunes , Steve Hackett and Steve Howe 12 Strings tunes , and "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas.

P.S. I love 'New musik' too. 'From A To B' is a great 12 String album also!!!.
I read somewhere that around 1982 Captain Sensible's girlfriend Cursty kept playing the 'A To B' album on a cassette player in the captains car. The 'musik' grew on Sensible and he contacted Tony Mansfield and asked him to produce the upcoming Sensible album. Mansfield went on to produce all of the Captains solo stuff.
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young did some great 12 String stuff.

I prefer 6-string. 12-string is almost like an "effect" for me. Sounds great on certain songs, but gimmicky on others.

i love acoustic 12s. unfortunately the intonation is way off on the one i've got and i havent come up with a suitable way of sorting out the problem, short of performing major modifications that are more trouble than the guitar is worth. ...so i record it with lots of chorus.
one of these days i'll get a really nice 12...like a taylor.
incidentally, one thing i really like doing is tuning the D and G octave strings to A and D instead (so it looks like: aD, dG.) i especially dig this when finger picking the individual strings because it sounds like im doing a lot more than i really am. (im a crappy guitar player.)

Well, I love all of Mully's songs. I love Over the Hills and Far Away... I love the other songs mentioned.
Maybe I like it more than I thought.
If I had to choose, though, I'd still pick 6-string.

Back in the 80's, I bought a beautiful 12 string that played as sweet as it sounded. After a while though, it just wasn't as satisying as my 6 string and ended up taking it back; luckily I worked at the store I bought it from. (20 years later I regret that decision; but I also regret not buying the memorymoog for $100 when I had the chance)
