very cool.

Really great concept. But the encoding is fairly low-bitrate.

i have a similar setup via Yahoo/SBC,sound quality and music is good too(user radio that you can rate, fan radio sites, etc) but it's buggy; i get scripting errors, plus i have to use Yahoos' version of IE...i'll have to check out this other thing,i can record direct and/or burn to cd with my Yamaha AW4416 hich is cool, not sure on the legal issues but i assume it's similar to recording off broadcast radio?

I know I could, but it would just open them to liability, since they are not licensed to broadcast outside the U.S. This is a cool service, I don't really want to do them harm.
I did think about this, but as a good citizen who goes out of his way to not illegally download tracks, or use pirated software etc etc, it really pisses me off to realise that, once more, i'm getting shafted by stupid licensing laws. (emusic won't give me access to certain artists etc)

With this in mind i thought "f**k it, i'll try it and if i end up subscribing in order to stop ad popups or whatever, i can only be helping by giving them money".

Thats my view anyway. I get forced to pay high prices on CDs etc, i could really give a crap if i pretend i'm from the US in order to use a service whch will eventually result in me buying more music i find anyway.

Anyway glad to help if anyone finds this useful, i think its fantastic personally.

A friend showed this one to me back about a month ago. I tried it with Klaus Schulze and got fairly varied results. I seemed to pick up just about any old New Age and Ambient works, but it also threw in some rather surprising things I hadn't heard of. I think it's still rather limited in its music database but it's a damned interesting idea.

Akasha, Nightmares on Wax, W.O.S.P, Lil' Devious, The James Gang, Amphotic, si-{cut}.db

Not sure if that's what you're looking for though.. :?:

Last.fm on coil in comparison:
Coil, Current 93, Psychic TV, Einstüerzende Neubauten, Throbbing Gristle, The Legendary Pink Dots, Skinny Puppy, Nurse With Wound, Death In June, Donis, Download...

...and the Last.fm Player corrects simple spelling errors when typing in artist names like Einstüerzende Neubauten ;)

For some reason, just after I'm done with my big Coil/Nurse With Wound/Current 93 kick, I start seeing the bands names pop up everywhere...

Now I'm on a big Gridlock/Antigen Shift binge, and I'll probably see those everywhere too.

Thanks Fred-hal ...

Pretty sweet site, good find. Something I'm guessing I will leave on in the background every now and again.
