Hello, Hola, Hallo, Bonjour,
The following are presets for the IK Multimedia amplifier modeller called Amplitube. They were programmed by me and emulate many sounds found on many rock and metal records. They are part of a much larger collection I have done and I am giving these few away on KVR.
In this package you will find three collections.
The Shrapnel Collection
Here you will find your favourite guitarist tones made famous by the Legendary shread guitar label Shrapnel Records. If you don't know Tony Macalpine, Vinnie Moore, Greg Howe, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Richie Kotzen, Joey Taffola then if you like fast accurate playing I suggest you research these guys. I've also included Joe Stump in this category because although he was not on Shrapnel he is in that spirit and studied the above players. Also he didnt fit into the other two categories. If you want to hear this stuff go to www.shrapnelrecords.com and pick up some of the back catalogue.
The Thrash Collection
Here you will find the some presets similar to the tones of some of the guitarists from famous Thrash Metal bands like Anthrax, Slayer, Testament, Metallica (back when they were relevant to the term) and Doomwatch (that last one is a bit more obscure but well worth it if you can find their Symphony of Decadence LP from 1987).
The Classic Collection
Here you will find some of your classic 'Rock Guitar Heros', people who were in bands which made their music classic like Black Sabbath , Van Halen, Dokken, Loudness, Dream Theatre, as well as notable legendary sololists such as Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteen.
INSTALLATION:
To use these presets simple drag or copy the folders into your Amplitube Settings folder.
I used this setup to get the guitar sound into my computer:
Guitar ---> DBX 376 Channel Strip ----> SPDIF In on audio interface. This keeps the signal path fairly clean and is a very low noise, digital way of connecting it up. Use a sheilded guitar cable if you are near a CRT monitor.
Most of these were tested with the following guitars:
Fender Mexican Strat
Gibson Les Paul Standard
BC Rich Mockingbird NJ
You may have to make adjustments to the Amplitube noise gate and volume control depending on your setup. Also using the appropriate pickup for a certain sound is only the right thing to do. For instance if a guitarist uses the bridge for lead rather than the neck you should do the same. As I said this is part of a MUCH larger collection which I did that you should keep an eye out for in the future!
DONATION:
If you find these at all useful OR if you trade then with someone else please drop a PayPal donation for whatever you think they're worth and a thank you note to lady.j@ukonline.co.uk
DOWNLOAD: As I stated these presets are a part of a much larger commercial product. I offer these to KVR as a bit of a gift to the KVR community so the link will disappear after a week. Likewise I ask that you do not share these labour intensive presets -without a donation- as outlined above. I believe in honesty and karma so I know you will respect my wishes. If you agree to the above proceed to: http://homepage.mac.com/jadestar2/KVR_A ... ection.zip
Disclaimer: I make no explicit warranty or claims of authenticity to the actual guitarists or bands above. They are offered for your entertainment and use outside of that is up to you. Additionally all trademarks associated with their name and likeness are not at all violated with offering these presets so don't sue me!
