Noel Redding has a good 'un in "Machine Gun" if I remember correctly.
Joy Division's "New Dawn Fades" and "Transmission" - simple, but very effective.
Plenty of New Model Army ones spring to mind, especially in their earlier years.

In terms of electronic... too many to mention

Either "Expansions" by Lonnie Liston Smith or "Go with the flow" by Michael White. Two fusion classics with the most killer basslines.

I don't even remember hearing a version of Machine Gun with Redding. Billy Cox did a great job though. And that bass line in Who Knows?... Priceless! And Changes... Not to mention the classic Born Under a Bad Sign.

Redding was a really good musician but, to me, he always sounded like a guitar player playing bass - even more than Jimi himself - who was quite a bass player in his spare time.

Squib cakes comes to mind with the muted notes or oakland strokes.
