HI

CD Extract has been a good friend to me ...

Flipper.

Post

I understand that he's just one guy, but why bother
to maintain the site at all if you're not gonna sell
it. Personally, if I had a product that I had neither the time nor inclination to sell, I'd give it away. This is why some people use cracks who otherwise would not. It seems there's a fairly decent market for this thing if this guy gets his act together.

I would recommend ESC if you catch it when available.
I found the developer very good when I had a problem converting a particular soundfont bank. He very quickly resolved the issue.

@algodon: Gotta admit the situation looks strange and somehow doesn't seem to be intentional. Again, hope the guy's fine, just on vacation or something ;)

Hey, I hope it isn't something serious as well, but all one need to do is take 2 minutes and make mention of it on the site. So I'm not unsympathetic, but WilliamK/Wusik, Peter/LinPlug, Rene/rgc, Tick/BigTick - these are all (AFAIK) single-developer projects, and they have really great service and contact with the customers. I've never been dissapointed, so it boils down to whether or not ESC intends to have a business.

I'd love to purchase the product right now, but I can't. That seems whacky.

Cheers,
Envoy

I hope all is well with the guy also, but if he's on vacation that's one helluva long stay. If he's too busy or otherwise occupied to let ME GIVE HIM MONEY,
it's easy enough to communicate this to his potential customers. As it is, I check the site everyday to see if anything's changed, but alas... Somebody, somewhere is keeping the site running and
I question why bother?

Yeah, a strange fellow, isn't he? :D

Maybe we should start some Extreme Aid or something. 8)

Have patience.

I assume it costs money to sell products via web; perhaps there is a billing issue with his web service provider which needs sorting. This happened last year with the Exciton / Grovetube website.

Or, perhaps he is sorting "format infringement" issues. I hope not; greedy bastards.

Or worse, he could be out sick.

You know, if he were to read this thread, he could wake up tomorrow with a couple hundred more bucks in
his coffers.

Maybe some of you guys that have established communication with him, could convey the message. :)

There seem to be quite a few people asking about it, though. A little communication wouldn't kill him, would it? What if you were an existing customer in need of support?

I agree. Personally, I am also interested in grabbing a copy. I did communicate with him by e-mail, about 6 months or so ago. I held back on buying it because, I wanted to make sure it would handle ST2 samples (it only handle ST1 at that time). So, he responded to my e-mail, however, I have not attempted to communicate with him since then. I did attempt to purchase the product online, though.

I have seen the store up, once upon a time, but now, it's down, again...very strange.

The GUI is sa-weet. It would appear that he'd be entering a market that needs a wake-up call. I hope he responds.

It's a lot easier to be patient when one knows when to expect resolution. A simple "hey, here's what's going on" would suffice. I like my toys right away, but if that can't happen, I'd at least like a date to
look forward to. It boils down to this - each day that I can't buy this is another day that I can't
do something I'd like to because of it. I fear that the guy either doesn't care or doesn't know that people want his product, and the situation may never change. I'm sure most developers would love to have
people lining up for their products.

His GUI and delivery (i.e. on site) are quite nice. In addition, he was cool with me, when we communicated, and answered my inquiry pretty quickly. Perhaps, something's up?

I just noted him via his info address. If he's in it for the long-term, I'll grab a copy. However, I'm gonna wait for a reply, firstly.

Thanks very much G - hope you can get through.
Looks like he has 4 or 5 customers from this
thread alone.

Algodon:

Hey, if Translator didn't work for you, just get a hold of me and let me know what did or didn't work. We do lots of ST work for IK Multimedia and Sonic Reality.

We convert into ST2, have been for years, and know the format (it's tricky, and it's limited too) back and forth. We also did it with IK's blessings.

ST2 is much better to convert into, as it can take "more of" a source formats references and parameters.

If a program doesn't work like you would prefer, there IS something you can do about it. 800-877-6377, or 320-235-9798, or support@chickensys.com

We are very easy to reach and get a hold of, and if you've got some suggestions or issues with Translator, we do respond (like we are now).

Our ->ST is outstanding and has tons of features and versatility. Some examples:

-ST's format doesn't handle many sample references; many source files that have varied parameters (especially pan and tune) can throw ST and not fit in a single Instrument. Translator has some options that can make the comprimises YOU want to make in order for it to fit.

-You can adjust on the fly in there are "parameter conflicts" (an unfortunate result of ST's limited structure) to make things fit in one single ST Instrument, plus

-Add Effects on the fly (using the 4 FX processors)

-You can view the ST structure of the Instruments you make, and audition the samples

-Reduce any unecessary complexities of the instruments so they play easier (on the CPU)

Again, we are easily contacted (we're here all day) so if you have a need for ->SampleTank, we can help.
