anathaema also were pretty good in the early days.

not saying they aint now i just havent heard much of their recent output :)

slayer! rule!
cathedrals forest of equilibrium is the ultimate in doom metal tho
awesome live on that tour too :hail:
YEah My dying bride is lame to be honest, Cathedrel best doom, maybe at times but Lee dorian took a turn for the worse in that band, his shit with Napalm was classic. How bout Crowbar or COnfessor(who are back and fvcking good) for real doom, but I like Cathedrel at times as well..
Slayer needs to come up with a good album to still be considered "RULE" I will never slag Slayer casue they are SLayer but they defintly lost a lot. South Of heaven is Lame, Seasons was even worse and Divine INtervention was pretty good. I dont think I have ever posted links to my tunes on KVR so here you go.
GO to www.goreking.de and look up the MP3's for my band WOrld of Shit.., We are Death metal and I think more but,, a label is a label and thats what we get tagged..

yeah napalm death were great too, scum is definitely a classic of the times.when i said what i said above tho im basing it on when i was "heavily into" the scene, this would have been around the time earache were first starting out as a label an a few years beyond.
seasons in the abyss was the last slayer album i ever bought,so yeah were lookin at a few years ago.im sure many new faces and many old acts are still around but for me youll never beat the likes of napalm death, death, boltthrower, carcass, obituary, slayer, kreator, paradise lost and cathedral. these guys where the force behind the brutal assault on many of my generations parents ears.
since then ive become a more casual listener to the scene and while i still enjoy some of the new stuff im not hearing anything new in the genre.not that this is a problem but as im getting older i like to hear boundaries being pushed rather than laid down rules followed
i will check your stuff out later tho kv :)

yeah SCUM is fvcking great I still listen to it,, and as far as Seasons being the last Slayer you bought, YOu madew a wise choice,, I was ready to give up on them after that album, I said I wasnt gonna buy anymore by them but Divine INtervention was barely just good enough. BUt how bout Morbid ANgel the absolute Kings of early extreeme/death metal, but sadly they have finally giving up the reign I think, they're last 2 albums dont cut it, and yes I agree the scene is rather lame and there isnt much new but there is a few,, I Myself am realizing it is a hard genre to still be intersting in when there are so many similar bands,, so.. we are making a new demo that should be different since we are getting label interst and need to make something that stands out more,, absolutly no boudaries on this one!!! ANd my partner in World of SHit also plays in another band that got signed with Metal Blade so we have a small in with them,, soo maybe we get a shot finally...

So how many people here are closet (or not so closet) metalheads?

Me, Lawnmower, and Ian SDZH have certainly been more obvious about it, but I'm sure there's some of you out there who haven't been so open about it 'cause you thought the tarnce kiddies wouldn't know what to make of your playlist :hihi:

Currently listening to Pestilence - Reduced To Ashes :hail:
