Great reply, cheers Kingston :). As I've said in previous posts, I really need 61 keys, but also a GOOD set of controls for the software. I assume this could be achieved just as well using something like the UF6 and a Behringer BCR2000? It would also be cheaper.

Has anyone got this combination and if so are there any problems running these 2 devices together?

cheers guys
First thing's first, but not necessarily in that order!

Novation are certainly not crap. They all play very good. And the aftertouch is the best I've found in a MIDI controller keyboard. M-Audio and Evolution...they aren't the best MIDI controllers, I can agree with that. With exception to the M-Audio 61es (which is awesome for the money) the rest are not worth the money.

a friend of mine got a laptop & the BCR and comes over to jam.
I connect all to the UF6 an he's up in seconds.
no escape this time, ras2a. :P

Speaking of action, do any of you have experience with Doepfer (www.doepfer.com)?

WOW, many thanks for all the replies guys. Good to get all this input. I am so torn between getting the Novation Remote 61 or a CME UF6 and BCR2000.

ARRGGHHH!!! As you guys say, it's the keys that are most important. I'm really gonna try and get down to my local music shop this weekend to test some of thes babies out.

Appreciate any input. I'd love to get down to Sound Control in Manchester to test some of these boards out, but I aint got time at the moment.

cheers guys
There are a few good keyboards with weighted keys. Yamaha has got very good feeling with the same keys as used on more expensive pianos. They are no good for programming fast action like drums and bassounds.
I would use a semiweighted keyboard like the CME keyboards for that.
I haven´t found anything like CME keyboards in this pricerange.

Ok, I'm becoming more and more swayed towards the CME UF6. I'd just like to know how easy/comprehensive the template system is for the Novations. - Anyone?

Also, how good are the CME's for controlling software ?

Ah well, after all this indecision I went with the M-Audio Keystatio Pro 88...and it's magnificent. I would still like to scope the CME's out, though.

Hi,

is there someone who's using the audio interface on CME keyboards? How is the latency & sound quality?

and how do you assingn CCs to controllers on these?

thanks,

.jon

Post

I've been using the UF400e (their CME interface) for couple of months on live gigs, and it's rock solid. Besides some of my own problems when I first got it, it never causes any problem after... The latency that I'm having right now is 3 ms, I think that's more than enough.

My setup: CME UF6 + UF400e + Toshiba M200 Tablet PC + Forte + VSTi.

Kenny.

Ugly looking thing but for the price it sounds like a bargain! I've been sizing up an M-audio Axiom 49 which is a thing of beauty & has MPC style pads as well. At £200 though it's looking well overpriced compared to the CME UF5 (49 key version) which I think sells for almost half that price!

Post

My CME UF5 plus my Korg padKONTROL equals joy, joy, joy...x-y pad, 16 trigger pads and portability of the Korg compliment well the plenty of knobs and sliders on the UF5. Wow...almost too much fun...
