Yes, that's what I meant. I still think it's pretty cool to be able to control the V-amp2 from a host. Before I had to close Cubase to use it because somehow the v-amp2 software and cubase didn't wanna share the MIDI conncection.rockstar_not wrote:Armadillo,Armadillo wrote:Looks very cool. I wasn't aware this was even possible to create a VST version of the V-amp2 software.
Damn, I was gonna sell my guitar, and my v-amp2 if it'd been in proper condition, and then you go and make something really cool like this.
I believe that this software just let's you control the midi controllable functions of the V-amp. I don't believe it's the internal software of the V-Amp itself.

You don't need gui for that. wah is controlled by cc1, modwheel. so it's very easy to write a track for that.rockstar_not wrote:Mokafx,
I just plan, for the time being, on using your software to control the wah effect so that it's tempo synced in a way. I really hope to have fun with this plugin. I might actually wire up my V-amp permanently now that you've given a way to control it easily from inside my host. I still need to try it out.

That said, now i realize my plug will be better if i add full automation, not only midi, so that you can write an automation track by turning the knobs. with the actual version, you need to write a midi track to do so. I'll update it soon.
About using v-amp as a control surface, that's a cool idea. Maybe I can do something with that, like a plug that can let you map each knob to a specific midi cc and channel. very easy to do.
Is anyone interested in such a thing?

I have a question :
does someone have the last firmware update (2.2.4)?
could you tell me if the cc61 still change both amp and cab? I know it should not do so, but i can tell you it does.
you can check by :
1- choose an amp with the software interface
2- play and hear the sound
3- disable cab, try the sound
4- change amp, try the sound
5- enable cab, disable it again, check sound : if it sounds as in step 3, good, if no, bad : it means that when you changed amp at step 4 , the cab had moved from "bypass" setting to the setting corresponding to the amp.
it does that on my v-amp2 (2.1.1)

Mokafix,
You should post this over at the V-Amp user group on Yahoo as well.
Here's the thread - you should join if you haven't already:

you can download it here :

After trying out various vst amp sims for the past few months since i got an ASIO interface, i had set my V-amp aside and let my friends borrow it. I finally had to get it back after listening to a friends track he used it on, I was re-blown away at the quality for $100 or less compared to the more expensive amp sim vsts and other hardware brands. Some amp models are mediocre at best at first listen, but with the right gain/eq/cab tweaking and then messing with pre-amp settings after v-amp, and then into computer (sometimes a setting with that nice vintage tube warmth, or a more elec guitar setting with bass rolloff and some added presence, or plain neutral, using the highly affordable Behringer Tube/mic Gain 200 pre-amp). Behringer quality for money is hard to beat.
Sure you cant re-amp like with a vst, but the presence and crunch dynamics you get with some of the heavy amps is awesome compared to the plugins (minus extra noise and added clarity for v-amp). PODs and the J-Station and tube based harware amp sims are a touch better offering less muddying and more breakup (frequency seperation) but cost 2 to 4 times that.
Although I, nor my friend has never tried a Sans Amp PSA, that thing sounds like the holy grail for direct recording of heavy distorted sounds and is on his next to-buy list. He did own a Hughes N Kettner Access pre-amp as well as a Mesa Boogie Studio pre at one point, which both had DI outputs excellent for recording crunchy tones, he is kicking himself now that he had sold them. But VFM, Behringer all way, even with their mics and tube recording pre's/eqs, my friend is able to turn out pro sounding stuff, that people asked what studio he did that at.
Sorry for that rant... oh the VST plugin? Yeah, I havent delved into using the midi functionality of the V-Amp yet. Didn't know it was possible to add/edit the multi effects with software so deeply. I thought you could only do one effect at a time. The effects only have two params , although digital, do sound pretty good, but I don't know if I'd do serious recording with them on, considering the wealth of highly editable quality VSTs out there. But for experimental sounds/effects mangling combined with a few vsts, it does work a treat to conserve the CPU. I was messing with it's effects and some VSTs together for what seemed like at least a few hours the other night, and stumbled across a cool Frippertronix ambience delay sound. I must buy a midi cable and try this plug out.

Sorry to impose and distract on this thread's title, but since wer'e sort of on the subject of Behringer eqipment, Here's an early recording endeavor with my friends new purchase of recording equipment. The Behringer V-Amp , tube rack units (tube gain pre/Composer compressor/eq), and their condenser mics. The bass and drums were quickly sequenced with Cakewalk, with a cheesey sounding bass and a soundfont drumkit of some sort. A year ago we were just getting started with sequencing and the recording/mixing setups were real basic, and this song hasn't been edited since. I'm the one who owns the V-Amp and he is always calling me to borrow it. He is sort of a non-computer friendly to a degree, but I show him something new everytime we mix/record together. The band was called Gage, now non-existant lasting a very short time. The song is called "Keep On Trying". Kind of a rock/reggae groove, akin to 311.

I don't think he'll grasp the idea of how this plugin will work yet (he only really knows how to implement VST fx), but if I show him, I dont think I'll see my V-Amp again for a while. Oh well, maybe Amplitube 2 will be promising

Thans for feedback guys.
If someone can answer my question about cc61 and cc19 bug, it'd ba nice.
BTW, I'd also like to know if you think you 'll use Vst-amp only as a remote control (vst-amp midi out to V-amp midi in only) or if one will also plug V-amp's midi out to Vst-amp midi in.
I ask that because making it so that it responds well to both functions is a little difficult sometimes (specially for amp and cab choices). So if you all think the remote control (midi sender, not receiver) function is the only one you use, I can get rid of the midi receiver function.
I'm talking about Vst-amp, not V-ampCS.
and don't forget my question about amp/cab match bug!

in fact the main effect choice knob on the hardware give you access to 15 prsets of racks in a way. but of course, effects are divided in 2 categories, mod and delay effects (verb is also appart on hardware). and they got up to 4 parameters each. the mod effects even have a fith parameter, wich is a more precise "Time" adjustment control.
maybe i'l add it later.
Yes, I think V-amp is mainly for amps and cabs. plugs like "guitar rig" give you only a few amps, and a bunch of effects, wich is nice but not really usefull, as you can find a lot of free effects on the web to fulfill the same functions (the mda effects for instance).metalifuxx wrote: The effects only have two params , although digital, do sound pretty good, but I don't know if I'd do serious recording with them on, considering the wealth of highly editable quality VSTs out there.
Also, I think if one has a good souncard, with multiple outputs and inputs, he can use v-amp as a plugin by proper routing.

Mokafix,
I plan to use it primarily at first as a pre-set loader. Then I also plan to use CS for the control surface aspect on some of my favorite soft synths.

yes, i think that it's almost useless to plug v-amp out to plugin midi in. I don't really see a use for it.rockstar_not wrote:Mokafix,

I recieved an answer from behringer, and it seems that they know that amp change means cab change.
strange because the midi implementation says that cc61 changes amp w/o cab change. I'll update the plug to take that in account.

The thing with the sansamp is that when you record it, there is no mistaking that its a sansamp. Its not that it sounds bad, necessarily, but it has an upper frequency buzz that is common among most direct recording devices. You can add subsequent cab filtering in your DAW to bend it to your will, and thats been pretty useful to me.metalifuxx wrote:Although I, nor my friend has never tried a Sans Amp PSA, that thing sounds like the holy grail for direct recording of heavy distorted sounds and is on his next to-buy list.
If you want to try a sansamp and don't want to spend the $600 cost of admission for a PSA-1, try the Tri-AC or even the Behringer GDI21. The Behringer is a copy of the Sansamp GT2- its not exactly the same, but similar. It doesn't clean up as well, but seems to be more brutal sounding.
I'm still trying to figure out a way to fully use my rackmount sansamp (the non-MIDI one).
Maybe I need to get a vamp and try it.

Oops,
I just tried my plugs outside synthedit, and realized that i forgot to place the Dave Haupt (wonderful) modules registration module inside.
So you might have several popups when you load it...
I fixed it. It'll be ok next release.

sorry...
