Not before time, Adobe Audition 2 is on its way
Features:
* Low-latency mixing with unlimited tracks: enjoy rapid response as you record and mix with a new, powerful low-latency mixing engine
* ASIO support: work with high-performance, ASIO-driven audio devices, which operate with very low latency and enhance performance by enabling features such as live input monitoring
* Audible scrubbing: Quickly find the audio you want to edit using two modes of audible scrubbing. Tape-style scrubbing enables you to find hard-to-locate edit points, and shuttle-style scrubbing allows you scan through your audio rapidly
* Analog-modeled Multiband Compressor: Control dynamics, adjust loudness, and master your mixes with multiband precision. Give bass and drums punch while allowing your vocals to push through the entire mix
* Recordable parameter automation with external hardware support Move volume, pan, and effects controls as you listen, and record changes to your mix in real time. Use external hardware controllers to make changes, which appear as editable envelopes in the timeline
* New tools for mastering Use the innovative Spectral Pan and Phase display modes to analyze your audio, the Mastering Rack in Edit View to apply multiple effects simultaneously, and improved phase and frequency analysis tools
* New Spectral Frequency Display tools In Spectral Frequency Display, use the new Lasso tool to create a selection of any shape, adjust the color bar and resolution to better isolate a specific frequency range, and use the logarithmic display option to increase the visibility of lower frequencies
* Broader video format support Edit soundtracks for video and then export the enhanced video in AVI, MPEG, DV, or WMV format
* Optimized performance Experience dramatic performance upgrades up to three times faster for some features and optimized use of hard-drive space.

According to Amazon's UK site the cost of the upgrade from them will be £104.99, which seems a tad steep. Perhaps Adobe will offer something better when they *officially* announce this - it seems to be a leak at present!
Release date according to Amazon = 27 January.

Looks like a promising package, but I think at that price I will demo it first. But I'm a big fan of Audition.
Its interesting that they've rewritten the mixing engine.
Although they charge more than some for upgrades, they only bring them out every 18 months, rather than annually, which spreads the cost I guess.

hmmm
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Of course that's just the information taken from Amazon. What I want to see will be whether they have improved the mixer routing, added a tempo track lane, changed the GUI... we'll know that once they make the official announcement I guess.

Wait, someonme told me Audition didn't host VST's. Is this true or not?

I wonder if it will go osx this time
an adobe product that's not mac, that shows you they spent f**k all in time 'redeveloping' it. They just put the thing in an adobe branded box

The box on the Amazon screen is for Windows ... but they usually package the Win/Mac versions seperately, so who knows. I believe that one of their cross-platform programmes recently went Windows only (was it Premiere?) so they seem to be moving towards a Windows bias.spaceman wrote:I wonder if it will go osx this time
