I still think it is important enough a thread that it ought to be "Stickied" somewhere. No other thread is as comprehensive in its VST amp inclusions.

I'd be surprised if toneport isn't cracked...

Post

Can't crack Toneport its HARDWARE. This is why Line 6 only make Hardware and their ONE PLUGIN (Ampfarm) is strictly for PROTOOLS HD users thanks to the Digidesign affiliation. Makes me sick that real progress is hindered because of shonky business partnerships and piracy.
You have no clue how great Line 6 VST capability would be. :help:

Post

I guess I should say "I'd be surprised if Gearbox isn't cracked"- Not that I condone or am encouraging it, of course.

Anyone tried the new build of GXStack?

http://www.novadsp.com/gxstack.htm

If you do, try the Tweed Boy amp + SmallTweed64 cab with all vol/tone knobs on full - with my Tele it sounds like those lovely quirky Steely Dan solos from the 70s and even comes close to the Clapton/Allman sounds from the Layla album (Tweed Champ + Pignose according to producer Tom Dowd).

At less than 30 euros I bought it on the strength of that one sound alone. I've been having so much fun with it that I haven't put the other amps/cabs through their paces yet - nice stereo reverb though ..

i'll need to dig in this list when i have some time.

Post

ok, so have you got any recommendation for free ones? Free Amp and Simulanalog, I guess? And Boogex?

Post

And the demo of Revalver MK2 which is not so limited and so so so

Post

Don't want to spend? FreeAmp 2. Don't mind to spend? Revalver 2.

Are there any amp simulators for using acoustic guitars?

The Best Sound I Get Out Of All Of These Amp Sims Is As Follows:

(For Reference My Main Guitar Is As Follows: Jackson With One EMG 85 At The Bridge & Floyd Rose Double Locking System, 6-Strings, D'Addario XL Strings Low To High - .70, 56, 46, 36 (Wound Off Course), 26, 16,) Tuned As Follows Low To High: D, A, D, G, B, D (But Replace The Low D To An F# Then Convert The Rest)

I Use A Line 6 über Metal Pedal As A Pre-Amp (In 'Pulverize' Mode (Which Doesnt Feature On Any Other Line 6 Product) And The Built In Gate In The 'II' Position

This Goes Into A Hi-Z 1/4 Input Via 2 X Planet Waves Cables

The Signal Passes Through An Internal M-Audio Mixer Low Latency & Direct Monitoring Turned Off

Into Alien Collections (Now Peavey) ReValver Mk II 2.0.4 Speaker Module Using The Impulse Resoponse Of A 1 X 15" Jensen Gold Fitted Speaker Cabinet Mic'ed Up Using The MD421 Dynamic Microphone Model By Senheisser

Sometimes I Then Follow The Cab Module Into The VST Hosting Internal Module With The New BBE Sound Sonic Maximizer Plug-In Released By Nomad Factory & Set Conservatively (Before The New Version Came Out I Was Using The Old Sonic Maximizer Plug-In 2.0 By Cakewalk)

Signal Fed To Record Onto Disk Or Just Jacked For Practice Routines

It Has Never Let Me Down, Has At Tight But Punch At Around 80Hz & The Pedals Powerful Semi-Parametric Mid-Range Controls Allow Me To Cull The Boomy Low Mids Between 260Hz - 320Hz But Not In A 'Scooped' Way. Its Much More Surgical And Precise.I Never Have To Due Much More Than Add Some Parallel Compresion Using Waves' SSL 4000 E-Series Stereo Buss Compressor Most Of The Time & An IR Based Early Reflections Only Convolution Reverb Using Wizoo's WizooVerb W2 Plug-In Usually.

The Only Other Options Which I Find Useable Are Voxengo's Boogex Or Ampeg SVX By IK Multimedia.

If Your Having Trouble Nailing A Decent Heavy Sound Try Something Similar :x  :D

I've just been looking into the big guns' entry-level software sims:

Guitar Rig XE- 5 amps, 5 cabs, 21 fx 99€

Waves GTR Solo - 10 amps, 10 cabs, 13 fx 90.58€ (140$)

Amplitube 2 Live
- 3 amps, 5 cabs, 10 fx + gate 64.72€ (99.99$)

I've just used an online currency converter for the prices so they may not be exact but the Waves one looks very tempting for those of us in Europe and as far as I can see it no longer needs a dongle. Has anyone tried it?

Yeah Its Ok, It Doesn't Do The Hi-Gain Thing So Well But For 'Breaking Up' Tones It Sounds Better Than Native Instruments Guitar Rip-Off 3.0. Do Try Peavey ReValver III. It Is My Personal Faviourite & I Recommend It, Am A Guitar Player Of 14-Years & An Audio Engineer As A Day Job And I Really Have Tested The Big Guns Very Analytically! :) And The Search Of The Holy Grail Of Guitar Tone Continues...
