I am using 5.03 without any issues at all. Win XP Home SP2, Athlon XP 2800+, 2GB RAM, Audiophile 2496 PCI.

Crackling audio in Live is almost always caused by CPU overload. Simply freezing tracks that use synths should solve it.riley4reason wrote:I was using SampleTank 2.1 with 8 channels of sounds and midi tracks in Live 5.03 and it would crackle, so I used Project 5v2 for the same song....no crackle. I added another Gig of RAM last night for a total of 2GB, and now Live 5.03 doesn't crackle.
Live's built in CPU meter relates to the CPU load created by Live's audio handling. It does not take account of any other Windows-related processes or other software (such as virus checkers) that might be running in the background. I believe that it also doesn't include the overhead of any Rewire slave software such as Reason that may be running (but I may be wrong there). In the task manager it showed that the host and VST were using up 700MB of ram while running.
Because I never switch off my virus protection and rarely shut down my internet connection or email software, I am aware that other stuff is going on while running Live. I find audio begins to deteriorate once I reach a CPU load reporting at 65% and above in Live. The solution of course is to freeze stuff (or bounce of course).
I only have 512MB RAM by the way. Ohm and Live 5.0.3 is running just fine here
