FOR AUDITION USERS.. If you are applying the effect and not using it realtime you can apply without any demo dropouts.. This works fine for me cause Im not going to be using it RT
Freeze is nice...
There has to be a zoom function or the ablity to grab the frequency slider while holding down CTRL or alt or something and expand the view..
I've been having minimal problems isolating like there online demos.. Gotta keep messing with it..

Hi Sickle, I can't tell you, I'm afraid. My demo of Audition ran out a while ago. I asked Adobe for a developers license, but they didn't respond. What I know of the feature in Audition is that it allows you to edit on a Spectrograph.Sickle wrote:How does this effect compare against Audition's extractor?
While Extra Boy Pro has a Spectrograph mode, this is best used for landmarking frequencies in the Spectral-Spatial display so that you can draw an ROI around them. I don't think Audition is providing the spectral information in the same way that I have done, nor the editing capabilities. I think, when you take a look at the details, Extra Boy Pro is quite unique.
The 'Quality' button expands/reduces the resolution. So, if you start on 'Lowest' quality setting you see the largest frequency range. Identify the regions you want to edit, draw your ROIs and then change (increase) the 'Quality'. At each 'Quality' level you can add new ROIs and the other ROIs are all scaled. Rather than dragging ROIs around, I made the functionality to be able to arbitrarily delete ROIs. So, if you are not happy with an ROI, just delete and re-draw. You can do this to any ROI and in any order.Lagrange wrote:There has to be a zoom function or the ablity to grab the frequency slider while holding down CTRL or alt or something and expand the view..
The instructions may be useful.
P.S. All ROIs are saved between sessions. So, you can always start where you left off and you can save banks with preferred starting points for ROIs.

Space Boy.. 1st of I have to commend you on this sik ass plug.. it's like a killer app of plugs..
The problem is when you erase a ROI the specified regions indicators also vanish (Extremely frustrating if you have regions specified off the screen)... I was thinking it would be more user friendly if there was a separate counter for those little green circles that could be controlled the same way the ROI'S are..

Lunch Money - Believe it or not this plugin actually leaves audio in the same frequencies alone (I think they use some algo's to hone into specific sounds).. I was surprised when I was left with audio that was "underneath" stuff in the same domain.. Man this thing is amazing especially if you like to really pull things appart!!

Many thanks for your comments. O.K. I understand what you mean. The green ovals disappear when you erase an ROI. It should be no problem to change it as you suggest in the next release.Lagrange wrote:Space Boy.. 1st of I have to commend you on this sik ass plug.. it's like a killer app of plugs..

This thing kicks Renovators ass in the functionality department. I mean Renovator is just like Auditions Frequency domain function.. IT LEAVES GAPS, making audio sound all hollowy and unbalanced (then you spend all your time trying to fill that gap).. Extra Boy must be using some technology stolen from alien communication devices cause yo, it actually takes out the sound and leaves the background..??? How, how I ask???
And for the that price?? A mindblowing experience for sure...

O.K. you confirmed my expectations about the similarity of Renovator and Audition. I don't have access to either.Lagrange wrote:Extra Boy Pro must be using some technology stolen from alien communication devices cause yo, it actually takes out the sound and leaves the background..??? Yep, Extra Boy Pro is different in many ways, particularly the processing technology. There is nothing else like it AFAIK.
I'll think about enabling to lock selected indicators (seems reasonable).

Hey, Thanks!Midiworks wrote:Very nice work Space Boy !
A drawed ROI needs to have UNDO,
and also the possibility to be draged around
and be modifyable in size.
Rene
See my comments earlier. To delete (UNDO) an ROI, just right click inside it. Left mouse to draw, right mouse to delete.
I have to think how to drag them around once drawn. It shouldn't be too difficult. I'll add it to the list of potential improvements. I'm trying to conserve the CPU for the audio processing (which I can also embelish)

Space - yea I tryed the demo version of rENOVATOR and it does the exact same thing as AA's frequency domain.. it's like when a hockey player gets the puck slap shotted in his teeth then has to smile for the camera after winning the game or something...
So if I purchase a licence of this version will I have to repurchase for an upgrade later on??

I seem to remember reading an article in SOS where he used a plugin on his DAW to do this. It was one of the all-in-one DAWs with their own OS, Audio IO, etc... He removed certain background noises, then by using a clone tool painted over the gap with a pattern based on the surrounding information. Maybe it was ReNOVAtor he was using, not sure.Lagrange wrote:I was having major problems when I would take out a sound in the frequency domain and end up with a hollow sound.. I tryed everything to fix this , pitch shifting, copy and pasting audio, time streching man everything. Now it looks like there is a proper solution to this prob...

Sold!
Am I right in assuming this plugin does not work well with mono audio?
If so, would it work better when mono audio is converted to stereo first (well rather, dual mono)?
Looks like a killer plug for location work and voiceover work (which happen to be my main occupations...). Been having an eye on Renovator, but I can't justify the costs. Extra boy pro certainly is a bargain.
