I thought it already was when I demoed them all 18 months ago... specifically the noise reduciton tools in Audition seemed to me way superior, and the frequency spectrum editing was also a selling point.

Wavelab is superior in other ways I guess (the DVD audio burning already mentioned, plus VST support is presumably better, being a Steinberg product).

Now I've seen the screenshot I'm even more intrigued.

Caught it before it went down:

Yes. It's interesting that they have given the GUI a very Adobe house look now... and yet kept the colour scheme largely intact.

Not sure whether I like the track inspector so much - too much hidden. And yet I'm pleased to see another of my feature requests is clearly there: Per track level meters :D

The browser looks cleaner and I like the tabbed look at the bottom. I hope this will still be customiseble so that you can dock stuff where you particularly want it.

Where on earth have all the shortcut icons disappeared to at the top of the screen :?: :-o

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

More thoughts infered form the screenshot:

They have kept the three main workspaces - edit, multitrack and CD burn.

It looks as though they have built in the mixer console as a full screen tabbed alternative within the multitrack view. An interesting development that suggest the GUI might be less customiseable than before.

There is a seperate automation track in addition to the envelope drawn over the first track. It seems to relate to additional automation, perhaps linked specifically to the mixer engine rather than the wave file (as in version 1.5)

They have moved the scroll bars. I hope they haven't changed their behavior, as this was good in 1.5

I somewhat fear that an important feature I wanted to see - the tempo/timesig lane - may not yet be there. The tempo and time signature box in the lower right edge of the screenshot looks unchanged in functionality (merely given a paint job).

Hey Ron 8)

As I believe you are a registered Audition 1.5 owner, you will want the upgrade version, which was advertised on Amazon UK at £104.99 (until the link got pulled down, no doubt because Adobe haven't actually announced trhis update yet :hihi: )

Speaking of which, the cat is now truly out of the bag (is that a real phrase?) so I hope they do the decent thing and announce this tomorrow!

Amazon UK had it for around that for new customers. I think we'll see an RRP of £299, which is actually the same as version 1.5.

It's gonna take a lot of effort to like the semicolons in the time display :(

My guess is they will be. It would be odd to have them in the main window and not on the mixer console itself...
