I got to goofing around with a few devices I haven't messed with in a minute and came up with this oddity.

Only thing really noteworthy about it I guess is it's composed entirely from the sample that rachMiel asked us to base a 20 second breakbeat from.

Not my usual thing at all, and Glitch is a bandwagon you won't be seeing me on, but it was fun enough to make I decided to share it with anyone who's into it..

More important than this track is the fact that I've decided it's time to apply the Sickle treatment to Orange Grains..

Wow, that's an interesting change...I'm not too familiar with the genre, but I'd say you pulled it off quite well. Has a nice disorienting feel about it. There's almost a beat at around 2:44, but just as I thought it would become predictable, it get's sucked back into the storm. Nice stuff.

Your last few tracks have shown quite a bit of range, it's been fun hearing 'em. So what's next? You gonna try and make the world's darkest and most distubing tarnce?

Nope.

I've been toying around with the idea of getting back to my early Godflesh/Pitchshifter roots now that I might be able to afford a guitar again here in the next month or so..

How the old Me will meet the new is anyone's guess.

i'm in love with the sounds in this. hard to believe it's all coming from the little 4/4 loop rachmiel gave us. :p as for the grid thing and it's relation to me... i gotta learn it first to reject it. was looking at a book called music theory for dummies today. overwhelming... but good thing i have somewhat of a small background. just babbling... nevermind me.

yeah, i'm loving the sounds don.

i've been doing "free groove" for a while now, but i've never tried "free ambient groove" ... dream beats. i think you did a nice job, donovano, and i really think this style has great potential.

wow, this is outstanding work; it forces my ears outside of their habits. orange grains is sort of a bastard to work with at first (lots of huh? moments, for me at least), so i applaud your willingness to stick with it and make such a well developed final track.

This kind of reminds me of a breakbeat version of a rainstick. I like it sort of, always like hearing beats twisting and turning inside out, but it has a kind of automated machine vibe, like turning on the washing machine and listening to its various cycles, which is a pleasant experience but not particularly engaging.

Since I'm such a reverb bitch these days, I want to hear a Sickle track without it. I usually like your use of reverb and echo, but a change wouldn't hurt once in while.
