It's stolen from a Monolake cover... so if you don't mind being sued for plagarism.

But I am serious about the visual aspect of your work. I'm sure that you can find a way to express your interests and still wrap it all up in a package that would be appealing to a whole market that may be difficult for you to reach right now.

Have you ever heard any of Richard Devine's music BTW? I'm it's just a buch of blips, squeeks and squawks for gods sake. If he can sell that crap, and apparently make good money at it, I can't imagine why you can't. I think that it's all pretty much about marketing.

i've got the album: polygon cities. like it quite a bit, though not as much as some of their earlier things.

do me a favor, if you have the time. have a quick listen to a bunch of my pieces, even spot checks through them (listen to a few seconds here and there) would do fine. get a sense of my "aesthetic" ... would you still say all i need is graphics?

Yeah, I think you could market this work under an IDM/Techno Ambient style. Several of your pieces sounds like they could have come of off Selected Ambient Works: Volume 2 by Aphex Twin.

The other genre, that is a possibility, is Dark Ambient (or whatever the hell it's called this week) with artists like Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana and Alio Die, to name a few. They tend to have a certain ephemeral and spiritual quality to a lot of their art and branding.

To be quite honest I've never much cared for the NY (or whatever) "Art" Scene. Not sure how others feel.

i just wanted to read one of your essays - to find out i already have. it's the one about the state of electronic music. fun reading, thanks for writing it. i don't have much formal training - to me the 'listen to everything' is the right path in this pathless land, for now. :)

fabi: thanks man! :-) i poured my heart into those columns and am always happy to find out they touched someone.

Now I'm gonna list a few more good dark ambient projects:

Lustmord
Atrium Carceri
Raison D'etre
Sephiroth
Thomas Koner (insert umlauts somewhere)

If you don't mind putting in a few bleeps and bloops... well, I think you're set. :hihi:

Anyway, like I've been saying, I think a lot of it is in the packaging and branding. Did you get a chance to listen to any of the FM3 stuff that I put a link up for? I don't think that it's significantly different from your work.

do what thou will shall be the whole of the law.

you really want mass appeal?
im asking seriously, ive been chatting with a few people at college about this. not that i think i would ever be as famous as the likes of aphex twin or any other major independant artist(for want of a better phrase) but i dont think i could cope with what goes with it, people in the street knowing who you are :o ooh no thanks. i just like the idea that i can express what i want to and not have to worry about whether its a flop or not, or what the critics say

im not disrespecting anyone who does want a piece of that pie either, its just not for me.but id like to hear peoples thoughts.

and yes Rachmiel, you have with your ensembles the past few years shaped at least a few artists around here and their sound ;)
hats off 8)
:ud:
