What's yout preference and why? Howz the CPU dealing with your application thereof? What would you you recommend for channel strips accross the (sequencer) page?

I have TrackPlug4, Voxformer, and the UAD-1 CS-1. However, I usually find myself applying individual effects in a chain that does not inlclude a channel strip. Although, it's fair to note, that I just picked up the Voxformer and TrackPlug4, so I'll most likely use them as much as possible, and eliminating some of the chained effects (e.g. compressors; LA2A, 1176/SE).

What's your preference and why, for applying channel strips and/or chains? This inquiring mind :drunk: wants to know.

61 views and no responses....I know you have a tainted view of me, but I think you were quite mistaken about me...however putting that aside I'm gonna respond anyhow.

I think you would be very wise to stick with what you have for now, voxformer is a great channel strip anyhow. Trust me I know how much fun getting new toys is, but shop wisely.

By using what you have now you will be able to gauge what the strengths and weaknesses are of your current DAW. Though you might not want to use any of the above mentioned for a channels strip forever, it can give you some good guidance as to what to get, what your needs are, what is lacking...all too often we buy on impulse because everyone likes it, and end up with a useless pluggin because it didn't suit our needs.

You're a student I believe you said (which coast are you on? just curious), been there, I know money is tight...even with student discounts. You already seem to have a good start and seem to have the knowledge...so I would suggest instead of waiting for forum members to make suggestions (but keep asking anyhow, more input is always good) you should determine what will best suit your needs...it's not like you can't make music with what you have now...but you can make better purchases directed at your needs by using and getting use to the tools you have now.

Take it or leave it, but that's my advice...:)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

My god - you don't want to use your LA2A and 1176? I'll take em. :D

I haven't found a channel strip that works as well as inserts yet. I think Trackplug is pretty darn cool, though.

I use Vincent Burel's free Striptool v1.0 - Gain, EQ and COmpressor in one. Lovely and v. low CPU :D

I tried them all, I also own UAD but this one is the best for my needs:

It's a channel strip + much more, the most used tool I ever purchased.

If I understand correctly, your question is about preferences when to use a channel strip versus using single components? And when to use which? It would be hard to believe that you just bought 2 toys and now want advice on other ones ;).

Another GAC-1 vote. Unbeatable ergonomics and great sound!

Not a part of the loudness war!

Yeah, Come to think of it, I use that quite frequently; Nice EQ on it. The controls are a little wonky and the design a little '95, but very useful.

I have to second that, GAC-1 is an incredible plugin and in a very musical way. I dont have a UAD though and before I got GAC-1 I mainly used Gliss-eq and am-track from Samplitude's analog modelling suite, which is a great tool too, but lately I mostly use the "gold channel", it's light on the cpu and sounds great on everything I have thrown at it so far.

But of course there's some truth in what Hink said too, if you already invested in a bunch of high quality plugins like all the stuff you mentioned, it doesn't really sound like you NEED a new channelstrip plugin.

I found this at the vb-audio:
All VB-Audio Plug-ins are now protected by a Hard Key. Actually we provide USB Dongle, but if needed we can deliver a parallel one instead. You need only ONE Key for all the range of VB-Audio products. This new generation of dongle allows us to manage severals different Licenses.

and a price of 232 Euros for the striptool series... Not sure if it's the same thing though.
