Good question - never tried. I have been wanting to try the demo though, so here's a reason to - are we talking about the uno or studio version?
I will suggest that you start by reading the last section of the manual if you haven't done so already - the notes for setting up in cubase and tracktion might apply.

I tried. It loads and plays fine in melodyne - but no remote control.
The only way in melodyne to send midi to a plugin appears to be through an audio track - things seem to be a bit upside down - but then again: melodyne never claimed to be a midi sequencer, perhaps with version 3 you can create midi tracks that are not based on audio.
In the meantime I'd load liveslice into a rewire slave like bidule or ableton live and load that app as a device in melodyne via rewire.
The obstacle can probably be overcome by humming a track containing the notes needed to trigger liveslice and record it with a microphone - didn't try this though

The Melodyne 3 demo was unavailable when I wrote the above post. I'm downloading it now, to see if there are any improvements in the midi implementation, and write a section in the manual about LiveSlice in Melodyne.

It is posible to use LiveSlice in Melodyne 3. There are no "midi tracks" in melodyne so using VST instruments is a little awkward. The Melodyne manual section 05-06, the chapter "Melodyne and software instruments" describes how to set this up.
Now you need to import an audio file playing a single note with a simple synth sound. I used a sine wave playing a C2 note. Once imported it will be added to the selected track in Melodyne. Enable "Realtime midi send" in that track, mute the audio and move the imported note so it plays a C2 note - this will trigger the first arrangement in LiveSlice. Now simply copy and move / stretch that not e to play back other arrangements and control the duration. You can set up multiple tracks to control the same LiveSlice instrument so you can play back multiple arrangenemts at once (a much overlooked feature of LiveSlice I fear)
Very important: You need to go the the LiveSlice "settings" page and enable "manual sync" because Melodyne does not send correct sync information to plugins. If manual sync is not enabled LiveSlice will not play correctly.
Let me know how it turns out, and if something needs to be explained better / differently.
I never tried Digidesigns Synchronic, but I'll take a look
