After having so much fun programming "Azul Synth" with its rhythmic sounds I decided to push Rhino a little harder into territory people had been requesting. The result is Trancemissions.

All these examples use only one instance of Rhino and were played live.

----The "Slown Down 2" mp3 example is nuts, how is that done live with one instance of Rhino ?? "Tube Rhythm 4" is wild too, cool stuff

Rhino is amazingly flexible for this type thing. Each osc can be assigned to a unique key range and transposed where ever wanted. Add rhythmic envelopes to the amplitude and filters with a few pitch envelopes, as well, and the basic tracks for a song can be played live.
And, since several rhythms occur in most patches, a user could mute the others and use one at a time to have the equivalent of many more patches available.

Free banks? Sure! Seven of Rhino's free factory banks were created by myself and 'Tick. I also gave my Azul Synth bank for free to new customers during Big Tick's Christmas promotion.
Programming a synth this deep does require a large amount of time, however. It would be difficult to justify the countless hours spent tweaking without some financial compensation. There are other things in life to do.
To make these banks accessible to everyone, the price has been kept low. This is more a labor of love than a way to get rich!

Many Rhino users have already purchased Trancemissions and I'd like to get your opinions. Is this type of bank useful to you? Would you like something similar in a different genre? If so, which one? Do you need more BnB sounds or do you prefer unusual timbres?
Let your voice be heard. Thanks.

Well, just for the edification of the uninvolved and curious, I have the seven freebies -- they are excellent, and a major reason to grab Rhinodaniel wrote:Free banks? Sure! 'Trancemissions' is really excellent. Well done! In fact, some are so good, they almost write a composition for you. There are a couple of 'Sting In A Box' items here, and even though I don't greatly care for his music, that is intended to be a compliment.daniel wrote:Many Rhino users have already purchased Trancemissions and I'd like to get your opinions. I probably don't have a tightly defined concept of what 'trance' music is...I think more of ragas and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan than the usual Europop when I hear the word...
I have a taste for the unusual, particularly patches that will fit into 'world music' -- hate that term! -- efforts. Here, I'm thinking beyond the fifty types of reggae or latin, and looking at rai, north african and west african styles.
Oh, and from my POV, you can do another Moog patch collection anytime you want

I was thinking about picking up the whole bundle of patch banks.
Are there any plans on including Trancemissions in the bundle, or would that have to be a separate purchase?

If Azul and Trancemissions were included in the Everything Bundle the price would shoot up past that psychological boundary of $99. Many people see $100+ too much to pay for sounds. Go figure...
Those two will be included in a new bundle, one day, after a few more releases. Unfortunately, for the next several months they will have to be purchased individually.
Thanks for the question.

Daniel,
Are you just going to do loop type sets now like the last two?
I have all of your previous sets like Texture, etc.; but the last two sections leave me cold. As good as they are, I feel like they are little mini songs. Very nicely done, but what about the idea of sounds to make our own songs?
I know some just want to cut and paste sound events, maybe this just isn't for me. Whatever.

Good question. As a programmer it's easy to get stuck in a rut and loose your inspiration. Before doing Azul and Trancemissions I felt as if stuck in that rut and wanted to try something new. It was good to see how far Rhino could be pushed with it's rhythmic envelopes. That's out of my system for now.
My next bank will be a continuation of the Digital Synth series featuring a more ambient soundset. DS3 will come with a new vfs of unique waves and 64 presets. Look for that release next month.
The next thing on my agenda will probably be more bread and butter type sounds. It's impossible to please everyone with a bank so I'll try to keep a good variety of patches coming. SO, once again, which type of sounds are most needed for Rhino?

Azul 1 and Trancemissions were just fine; don't get all guilty about them!daniel wrote: It was good to see how far Rhino could be pushed with it's rhythmic envelopes. That's out of my system for now.

To me, in order of preference:
1. Ethnic emulations or synth approximations that have that 'feel'
2. Ambient sounds/textures are perfectly nice
3. Moog moog moog (ledes over basses)
4. More Oberheim?
5. I hope you'll bundle DS1-2, and DS3?

I love all of your sound banks, but I think my favorite bank is "Classic Oberheim 1".daniel wrote:SO, once again, which type of sounds are most needed for Rhino?
I like smooth kind of sounds/textures which are usefull for movie soundtracks.
Cheers
Bo
