I've got a Tungsten T5 and the demo runs beautifully on it. I plugged the headphone output of my Palm up to my soundcard so I could hear it through my monitors and I was very impressed with the sound quality.

This could even be a spiffy live tool. By using pre-rendered arrangements you can replace your laptop with a Palm on stage. Kind of an interesting idea.

What kind of Palm are you using it on, and how well does it run? I'm getting my TX soon and hope it runs it well. It doesn't have a mic-in so I can't do any sampling on the john though

lol john-sampling! I have the Tungsten E model. It's fairly out-of-date, about 2 years old now. i have a 256 meg card in there, tons of room for samples. i'm still judging how well it performs but the obvious things make it crackly, crazy polyphony or tons of effects. i think though you can do some creative bouncing to take care of this problem. it's just like any normal music production studio in this regard eh?

well anyways, a new model of Palm like the TX would definitely handle this software much better than what I have. I don't know much about the processors in Palms but Bhajis Loops lets me knock the sample rate down to 11k. I think most people run at 22k. Microbe lets you pick between 44k and 22k only. I wish it was possible for someone to make a Mic-In addon for Palms.

I dont think Microbe should be overlooked cause sometimes I have an idea for just a good drum track or bassline combo and you can jot that down much faster in Microbe than you would in Bhajis. I'm sure it was hard for this software to come to life, but i'd be excited to see more products like these to come out in the future.

yeah even at 22k it sounds good. I think that's somewhere around where the korg es-1 runs?(that might be in the 30k range though).

it could be a good live tool, especially as a backup in case the laptop pops or you can have it as a 2nd deck in a dj mixer, crossfade between Palm and Laptop.

Korg ES1 is 32khz btw.

I first tried Microbe and Bhajis Loops on my gf's Tungsten E and the performance wasn't that good. Tweaking knobs realtime was really sluggish. But on my T3 and LifeDrive the performance is really good.
