Noted the mastering compressor is "powered by Izotope".

I wanted to be able to work with Spirit Canyon Audio's convolution reverb files in 1.5 but Adobe's convo files appear to be "non-standard" vice Spriit Canyon's product, Convo Boy from Elevayta, etc. I'm by no means an expert on convolution reverb and file formats, so maybe I missed something obvious in 1.5. Long-winded point being I saw nothing in the 2.0 web movie or online docs to suggest "standard" convolution is supported. Bah.

Also note along with other posters that, yeah, Adobe is claiming broad support for VST, DirectX, etc., but that wasn't the focus of the web movie. It's clear Adobe is shooting for the video/music mastering intersection.

At a US$129 upgrade price point, I'm going to have to ponder a bit more before jumping from 1.5 to 2.0.

The Oddity, M51 Galaxy, Garritan's Jazz and Big Band package, and Line 6's TonePort are all in line ahead of Audition 2.0.

Doesn't look like MIDI is any better supported though or VSTis. Also, I bet the ReWire routing is as limited as it was in v1.5 which means that you can not group 2 mono sources as a stereo channel

painful stuff

The mixer looks so awesome ! I am definitely hanging to try this

I'm not much into the midi side of things but I'm pretty sure the answer is "no". The help file says that to set the tempo of a midi clip, you can choose "authored" to use the tempo stored with the midi file, "match session" to do that, or "custom" to manually enter a new tempo.

As you can have several midi tracks, if they all had separate variable midi tempos, wouldn't it get a bit hairy?

good point, but it seems that it will just treat them as clips anyway so it'll be upto the user to make sure everything is synced

Still looks interesting, I use Reason for 95 % of my work and only am considering 1 VSTi addon. Will definitely look into it.

After all, if it's stable and allows for quick productivity, I'm pretty sure I'd be interested

We shouldn't rush though, Kristal Audio Engine 2.0 should also be released this year

Ozpeter - thanks for that. I was not particularly thinking of MIDI though - what I'm interested in having in AA2 is a master tempo track in which changes can be automated to produce tempo ramps for audio... meaning that the .cel loops would accellerate or slow down in line with the changing project tempo. This would also be really useful when using Audition as a rewire host for Reason (etc) as it would mean that tempo changes could be introduced within a song...

My pleasure. Nine pages? Good grief, I never counted! You'll see loads of FAQs there in a new forum - many link to Adobe tech docs which they have prepared in advance. And the manual/help file is first class. I expect the Adobe forum to be pretty quiet - all the questions have already been answered! And seriously, with well-written, well documented software, you shouldn't see lots of mystified forum users posting.

Has no one else noticed that theres looks like theres not going to be an update to the Script writing/automation functions in AA2?? Ever try writing a script in AA to create cue points?? Can someone let me know if im missing something??

Also, after reading through the forum it appears that...

- There is no VSTi / DXi support, no piano roll or sequencing MIDI control.
- The copy protection used is Challenge / Response, As I understand it, it is based on hardware ID.

No trial available thus far. Stil curious to try it.
