bet they just won't work with the pc floppy drive, right?
Indeed, PC floppy diskdrives cannot physically read AMIGA formatted disks (unless hardware modification), but the opposite is possible.

At the moment DW read .mod files, but I have nearly ready XM (fasttracker) and S3M (screamtracker) aswell.

It might be cool to support more old formats (iff, raw), but there's other more prioritary stuff in the todo list.
iff 8 bit signed int would be the s***.
but since renoise can read them and save them to any other format readable for pc it's not a "must have";
but definately a "why not...". :)

Arguru's name alone should lend Directwave alot of credibility.

So for those on the fence about new sampler from Imageline - they should know the caliber of people they partner. Hopefully this will calm some worries and quiet some doubts.
Why should it do that? There is a large population of people here driven by emotion and speculation rather than fact and observation.

It's a lost cause :)

anyway there is a way on OS3.1 to format discs & save files on 3,5" 700 kb pc-format.
this way i transfered almost all of my old mods to my pc a while ago.
would have to check again how i did it *exactly*, but it worked...so... ;)
I think i had almost the same exact setup, ami 1200 with internal hdd, although i can't remember what os version i had, i mean, this was a lot before the internet for me and somehow those things didnt matter very much. i might have a new reason to dig up the old ami now, thanks for the feedback guys.

But, it can also be used to get at samples in other formats (provided that they are not encrypted for use only in dedicated high-end players, buyer beware).

It'd be cool if someone could tell us about their experiences, how it fits in, etc., before I go wasting any more time on it... :?

I can simply drag any compatible format onto DW and it opens it...doesn't seem difficult or locked in any way to me.

DirectWave has a direct link to samplefusion, and why not? There is some free content available (nice) and you are not forced to buy anything.

Do any of the other host companies do anything different when promoting their content?
Touchy, touchy, touchy... :x  :P

Y'know? I don't have a clue what other host companies do. It's quite possible that if I did know, I might be a customer of theirs, not IL's...

This was the question I was asking, after a couple of observations:

It'd be cool if someone could tell us about their experiences, how it fits in, etc., before I go wasting any more time on it... :?

I wasn't inviting a defensive rant from some company pufferfish, believe it or not, but some input from a real-life user.

as if you have discovered some secret agenda. When I look at the manual what do I see on the first page?
When you look at the manual, indeedy. I hadn't gotten that interested yet, but I'd already seen that far. I'm sure there's no secret agenda -- only people who wear tinfoil hats suffer from that illusion -- I was merely recounting a restriction that seems quite important, considering the practices of other content providers.
Carbonboy wrote: This sounds like an issue with the the content creators trying to restrict you to their sampler. I checked, the DW format is open, no attempt to restrict it.

Fantastic. So now I'll go back to my original premise: are there any users who can share experiences, advice? Is this worth $99?

The reason this has to be asked at all is that IL's marketing content is "all about their goddamn grass-seed, and not about my lawn." Why is this so fabulous, what can it do that I need to do?

:smack:

If I seem grumpy in return, it's because I'm getting rather fed up with installing a seemingly endless string of versions of 6.x.

Maybe this is noob question, but I really want to know does this new FL support dualcore cpu's....???

Thanks!!!

Post

I'm not sure but since ASIO, Sound, and GUI are each in a separate thread (according to Gol) i would assume that theres at least some benefit to having dual cores

Post

FL places interface and mixing into separate threads - so if you have multiple processors - interface will stay responsive even under heavy load of a processor-intesive song.
