what is the practical usage of wave scope?

By the look I know it shows the shape of the wave of sound being played, but what's the practical meaning?

It's good to be able to see the effect you are having on a wave from. Sometimes you can spot problems with frequencies in them, and it can give you a good idea where you might be clipping.
It's also really useful to see how well your waveforms are syncing (More useful with an analog synth than software). I love my oscilliscope, and it was free, so I'm not complaining!
