Good job everyone! Awesome effort!
so, again, guys:
if you want to help the cd sales write your chrysalid cd "review"/comments about the cd, in the chrysalid cdbaby page! it does help!
it is the easiest way for a customer to read some comments on the cd he/she sees in the cdbaby store!
i have already sent my review to cdbaby for the cd!
btw, its very easy: you just go to the cdbaby chrysalid page and write your review and give a rating(from 1 to 5stars) of the cd. nothing else!
best regards, :-)
bakis.

Good reminder Bakis!!
I'm heading there right now to do the same. :)
Cdbaby looks down upon people that review their own cd, but in this case, if you are one of the artists then it is 1 out of 44! I'm just going to ignore my track in my review and focus on the enormous diversity that is present.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Hi John,

My Chrysalid record arrived and right now I am listening to No. 8 Paradise! I am anxious to hear yours, you must be pleased to be a part of the records disks. Hey, I just heard you and you sound great - I really like your guitar playing - it is clear and sharp. Now the next one just came up! There is a good mixture of talent here.

How is Ken doing? Please tell him since I can't call him, please call me!! I usually am home in the AM and after 5PM. Before that I am usually out doing errands.

Give my love to the Family,

MOM
didn't edit it...Ken is my dad...

Hi Guys
Okay a quick review of the tracks.
I have done my thaughts on CD1 here below.
Later i will add CD2 review.

Mystahr - To the Rain
Wow - I think this is one of the best tracks i have heard from you . A Great album opener. Mysterious and dark yet inviting!

Van Greco - Never Again
Fantastic - Starts off easy and nails the proper parts and progressions of a real song!
I already was playing guitar along with this one. I want to learn it proper and sing it round the campfire jams. Hope you'll let me do so? Nice Song!

Dan Tootill - Crestfallen
Nice Melodic riffs. Gives a glimps of hope right of the bat.

vurt - Eye of the Storm
I hear some Dorumalia drums in there i think. ;-) Rare for you to do perc but you got it goin' here.
A little tame for what i might expect from you, but yet another side i am glad i caught!

Rockstar Not - Home Again
Very interesting song. Great playing and capturing of the time and moment. I can tell this came from the heart.

Benedict - Time Returns All Legends to Glory
I hear this in a soundtrack for a Video about Katrina.

Emdot Ambient - Epsilon in a New Orleans Pale
Again a great soundtrack song. I can just imagine the sad images to go with this track. It is something we need to remember as sad as it is. The end has that glimmer of hope there.

Bluedad and Horse - Paradise
Sweet Track guys! I'm singing this one in my head already. I know you give Horse alot of credit for this Bluedad but i hear your influence. You have a catchy and unique style! I hear it all over this. Great work guys, collabs are always interesting, this one is Top!

Griels - a Slice of Moog
At it again, the jaaath man lives. (or is it jaaath monkey?) Funky and again something different from you. (Get that haircurt fixed yet? ;-) )
Nice work Ellis. Groovin'.

Diek - The Call of the Universe
I see the sad images again when i listen to this track. This would fit perfect in a Documentary Soundtrack.

Stephen Wey - When All Else Fails
Another Soundtrack style piece. Haunting yet Quiet, and again showing hope.

Col.G - Mighty Time
Blues time is due. Cool Guitar work ...Old style ;-) I like that. Vox is very interesting and the lyrics hit home.
Reality is what it is all about. I want to hear more of that Harmonica by the way. Nice work.

Hink - The Whisperer
Trippy Rock. Interesting track and cool music. Nice guitar work and an original feel to the song.

Hayden - Wash
Nice feel to this track. Great use of the beats and the build was done nicely. An easy listening song with a nice flow.

Techbot - Relentless
Neat stuff. Something different than what i usually might like, but i did like this. It has enough strange sounds and bits to keep the listener interested. The Vocal chants in the end are nice. The whole track is interesting.

Kovacs - Brief Relief
Very neat progression here. I like this. I hear it playing in something famous. Hmmm ;-)
Great playing and sequencing.

Brent Randall - 'Till the Clouds Roll Away
This is another solo vox and piano piece. Definately heartfelt. Nice piano here again. I would like to hear you and Rockstar Not (Home Again) do a track / collab. Nice Song Writing.

Elektroniqa - Angels
Cool - just cool. :-) Trippy and original. Interesting Vox work! I Like this track too!

Wopelka - Rhapsody in Rhodes
Easy to listen to and captures the moment in a interesting way. The flow of the track is done well and the playing and progressions show you meant it. Also a nice way to finish the first cd.

Overall the production is pretty fantastic considering all the different tracks / styles. This shows the artists are all pretty well versed on getting the sound down.
Bet alot of it was learned right here on KVR :-)
Awesome stuff!

CD2 Review / Thaughts to come soon.

Thanks for doing the reviews! Nice to see you're listening and thinking about them enough to take the time to write these.

I think you nailed my song perfectly. That's exactly why I thought it would fit the compilation: sadness and longing for what was lost, yet with a hopeful look at what will (hopefully) yet be.

Hey look, it's another Chrysalid thread... just found this today. Thanks for the kind words embot.

Paul--Manytone
-- Thanks for reviewing the songs! I totally agree with your comments! ;) Maybe we'll get some more reviews here soon from others...

There's no such thing as too much back-patting for this amazing effort -- I don't think it's sunk in yet as to how awesome it actually is... ;)

Extra special thanks to UTM & pHz for the amazing artwork. Superb effort! Also extra major kudos to UTM for so far maintaining the website (even if he has no idea where Illinois is...) :hihi:

...and to Kovacs for all the accounting and mail orders, email and website hosting!

...and to Koolkeys for his generous time and assistance with his website :)

... and to all the musicians who took the time to compose a track for us!

...and to the devs, without who we'd probably never got this off the ground ;)

...and to the 'Team' -- xRAVENx, TOTC, Emdot, mn, Glooper...

...and the dedicated assistance and moral support from so many, especially rockstar_not, Hink, Snooky, Parallel Worlds, Poepe, AllenPOPO and all...

...and finally but not least to my most excellent mate Freeztar, whose gentle persuasions and 'even keel' no doubt kept this ship of fools on course when at times it may very well have run adrift...

Well done mates!

Many Blessings,
Alex

Since we're all expressing our gratitude and shit, I just want to say thanks to you, Alexander, for keeping your eye on the prize and following through on everything. It must have been pretty challenging trying to keep track of all the details and issues ...We all have them, don't we? :hihi: Especially a world away and 12 hours out of sync.

But you stuck with it and now it's real. Whatever people's subjective opinions about the content, at least the intent and execution were honest, forthright and look as good as could be expected. I'm truly sorry your song "I want you to live" wasn't on included in the final, it was one of my favorites.

I stole this from you. You can have it back now. You deserve it:

Just found this thread. What can I say but a 'me too' to utm's post?

Think how much longer this whole project would have taken without Alex, alexander, ..xander, xander and his other alter egos burning the eastern AND western hemisphere midnight oil as coordinator guy with the flair for the colorful post.

Now folks, let's move some product.

Who's up for the challenge of contacting Paste magazine, Computer Music, Future Music, TapeOp, Mix, etc.?

TapeOp supposedly was going to give us a banner on their website, but I don't recall ever seing it.

BTW, if you don't read TapeOp and you live in the US, you need to subscribe - it's free - it's my fave recording magazine by spades.

First of all, I third the applause for Alex's great work on this thing. The project would not have been as successful without his ideas and time. I also would have torn out all my hair by now if it wasn't for good 'ol xander. And after all the trials, I can say with confidence that all the effort was worth it, if for nothing more than to gain a new friend. Cheers Mate!

@Scott:
Yeah, I get Tape-op too and I noticed that they have their own little Katrina thing going. I'm sure it would not be too hard to persuade them to print an ad for us. I'll try and contact them and see what they say. So far I haven't heard back from any of the local papers, but perhaps it will take some time.

Yes, thanks to the team. And let's not forget mn, who helped out a lot with the preorders and site updates.

Also thanks to my pal Jason who helped keep monitoring our preorders when I was unavailable! :)
