Hey im currently using a V-Amp2 and ive loved it ever sence i got it. i have loads of fun with it and use it constantly with my band.

But im seriously considering buying a PODXT Live just because of the fact that its in a floorboard form and that it has so many more amp models and stomp models. so mostly what im asking is would it really be worth the extra $300 more you pay for it?

I have loads of fun with the 32 models i have with my VAmp although i mostly just use high gain cause i play in a metal band and a punk band. but with the 2 addon packs for the POD you end up getting like 70 some odd amp models. and even if they are only slightly different i can only imagine the tweakability of that would be amazingly fun. so are the amp models a bit better on the POD or are they a bit worse? or just about the same?

and also my biggest BIGGEST problem with my Vamp the only thing that actually bothers me about it is the delay between using the foot controller to switch presets, if you dont keep to the same amp model with each preset theres like a half second delay wich murders you if your trying to do it in the middle of the song. is this the same with the POD? or does it slide threw presets seamlesly? this would be probably my biggest win over lol as i could use this very much.

Also the POD seems a bit more appealing with the online features and the USB support and Guitarport features and stuff. it seems like an amazing little foot board just want to make sure its gonna really impress me before i go replacing my VAmp lol although i love that little blue monster haha

Anyones help here would be appreciated

The way to reduce the time lag when switching VAmp2 setups with the footswitch is to have each bank of 5 based around one amp model. Start with preset 1 at minimum gain, going to preset 5 at max, or if you want to switch from clean ( or whatever ) to full gain set your presets next to each other accordingly.
The reason for the lag is the VAmp is calling up a completely different configuration every time you switch, and the amp sim is the most complex part of this: so by setting up your banks based around one amp model per bank you are minimising the time the VAmp's processor takes to reconfigure the setup. Or you could save a lot of money if you must have a big floorboard by using the Behringer FCB1010 which will also save your presets, and gives you volume and expression pedals for the FX.
Coffee please, black, no sugar.

In my experience with both I couldnt say that one is that much better than the other...

I got rid of my V-AMP after hearing the POD metal models. Try the "insane" model or secondarily the "Spinal Puppet". The stock sounds aren't too wonderful for metal but with a little tweaking you can get tones just like Evanescence. Exactly like, as a matter of fact.

switching amps on either model will introduce a delay. Instead, make presets that shut the "drive" (V-amp) or the "stomp" (PODXT)

I have experience with both, and I would say there is definetly a quality increase and more flexibility with the PODXt. Also, its made of metal, and you get an actual off/on switch. But the V-amp is definetly a price/performance winner if you are on a budget.
