Sickle wrote:All good suggestions so far, but keep in mind, we're after the lines that compound the sense of dread, not ironies like silly attempts to fuse horror and comedy..

For example:

Good = The suicide speech from Damian's first nanny at the party, and damn near anything that David Warner says..

Bad + Dead or Alive "I kick ass for the Lord!"

I want the dark shit..no funny shtuff..

I have KVR for that already.

Don't discuss the films themselves, and if you must discuss anything, please discuss SOUNDS and LINES from these movies, nothing more, short and sweet.

Cheers,
D

Edit: Why I am asking:

If you consider all the spinoffs of the Kompact Sampler, I'd like to so something ananagous to that, but foucsing EXCLUSIVELY on a given horror film and samples from each for a series of Film-Specific sample players..

This will be 'special Reaktor samplers, but I can make all of the sample maps available in Kontakt format as well.

Each sampler will be unique, in other words.

edit: I'll be indexing a list of which films I have already completed or am in the proccess of sampling. Please eliminate the following from your suggestions. Also, if you have something you can upload to my server, please PM me and I'll give you the l/p for the area.

Sampled:

Session 9
Legend of Hell House
The Thing - John Carpenter version

*CURRENT ACTIVITY: preparing and loading The Thing's sample set.

To Do List:

TCM(Texas Chainsaw massacre)- Original
Alien
Dawn of the Dead - Original
Hellraiser - Hellseeker(shit fim, with some awesome lines..)
The Thing(Carpenter version)
Event Horizon
The Fog(Carpenter version)
The Brood

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Not specifically horror films,
but Bladerunner and Alien have
excellent sound design and dialog.

Shelved for the time being, sorry. Not saying it's a bust, just have a lot of other priorities atm.

edit: I gotta add that having all the samples ripped and 75% mapped to the sampler that already had it's own custom GUI made at the time of a collossal and 100% complete data crash really sucked the wind out of my sails.

Temporarily. Tommorrow brings bigger, better, or at least the desire for such to be.

thanks for the update, Sir...100% understand about both other priorities and the frustration of a crash....let us know if there are any changes on the horizon for this project. 'tis a GREAT idea, this rompler

It's always seems that when you are working on something really big & important the computer have to crash! Dunno why but it's like that! :hihi:

Hi man, i've been using some Ted Bundy and Charles Manson samples, you can get them from here->

http://www.skcentral.com/downloads.php?cat_id=1

you need to register, but after that you can get some cool audio interviews with several serial killers (Ted Bundy/ Charles Manson/ Wayne Gacy/ Robert Yates/ etc).

i have them all on my ipod (yeah, i'm weird like that), so i can also upload them somewhere if you like.

Hey, I just thought of one - remember "The Gates of Hell"? If I remember right, two scenes had some interesting sounds (though not quotable lines ;) ): the one when the guy gets the drill-press through his head, and the one where the girl barfs up her own intestines... :D

:hihi:

Thank you for that small but poignant contribution, har..

Cheers for the link, OverDose!

Hey no problem man, didn't see your post about the colossal crash, that sucks, this project of yours sounds great tho, so even if it takes more time, please don't drop it, i don't own reaktor, but if you make this sampler, i'll have to start saving for it.

Good news. I went down to see my family in Miami this week and took the affected HD for my grandfather to attempt repairing.

It worked.

Not sure when I'll have a chance to get back to work on it and get it finished, but this makes it vastly easier to consider completing..

I also retrieved ALL my original wave files from all my pre-2006 tracks I had lost.

And all my pr0n as well.
