I know a lot of people are anxious to know what's happening at NAMM which is starting today. I am sure there will be many threads about it. Here's mine. I will tell you stuff I find out that looks interesting from a Squid's perspective. ;)

The show hasn't even started yet. But, yesterday I saw a few things that looked interesting. MOTU has a world instrument called "Ethno" or something like that and it looks really cool! I am one to buy anything that has world instruments in it anyway but this one looks like a lot of fun. Even gimmicks like the world spinning around to the sound you choose is an idea I had before as well and it was fun to see it. So, that's a good one. I also saw they had a very authentic sounding Juno plug as well.

I ran into Nick Phoenix and told him I thought Symphonic Choirs sounded great and that I am going to pick it up somehow (or trade hehe). It's just a beautiful sounding library. It echoes in HALL A and it is one of those times where as a sound developer you say to yourself "I should have done that... but you can't do EVERYTHING!". ;)

I haven't had time to see anything else yet but I will and I will post about it, from my somewhat biased perspective as a sound developer (although I am a musician who uses these tools just like you as well so a good product is a good product and it doesn't matter to me who made it! I don't limit myself in what I use because it comes from a "competitor".).

My friends from Sweden, DFH dudes showed me a sneak peak at their "EZ Drummer" which looks interesting. SR might do some sounds for that (we're also announcing support for BFD by the way!).

Of course, I will post the latest news on Sonic Reality and IK Multimedia as I tend to be the KVR spokesman for that, since I am in the know that much more there. Some nice new products being announced and I am pleased to say that there's a much better announcement to release expectation this time around (one can only learn as they move forward).

So, Sonic Reality has a line called Studio ProFiles which are multitrack and stereo loop libraries of the highest caliber. We're even releasing the first title in a group buy here:

More info here: http://www.studioprofiles.com

There's also a thread going in the marketplace forum on KVR.

Then SR has two other product/product lines being announced. One is a series of high end instrument titles and the other is a loop-based sound workstation ala... oh never mind. ;) More news on that coming!

IK Multimedia is showing the AmpliTube 2 Stomp IO which by the way sounds INCREDIBLE! The latency is low, the analog stage has components like you'd find in a high end console, it looks killer and its functionality is revolutionary. I will talk more about it later. There's also a secret surprise being announced as well called S... woops. I will tell you guys about it later once it is announced officially.

Then Ampeg SVX I think is going to ship next month as it looks like it is DONE! The final version is MIND BLOWING!!!! Looks and sounds absolutely incredible.

CSR Classik Studio Reverb is also almost ready to be unleashed and that too is a powerful tool for the virtual studio. So... an exciting NAMM awaits!

More Squids news coming...

SR Booth is 6331 if anyone wants to come visit.

Tell us more! We will sit at your feet... uh, fins... what do squids stand on?

Can't wait to hear the scoop on this. I've held off buying "oh never mind" because it was more oriented toward dance music which is not really my bag. I would assume the new Studio ProFiles titles are designed to work seamlessly with this new loop-based sound workstation?

What is "oh never mind"?

Don't hate me.. please.

Well, if Squids is referring to what I think he is referring to, let's just say that the mystery plug alluded to by Squids can introduce "chaos" into looped material, and offers a "SAGE" environment in which to wreak this "chaos".

On the other hand, perhaps I'm way off base and "oh never mind" is really referring to One Ping Only? :o

(we're also announcing support for BFD by the way!).
What do mean? :?:
What support? :?:

Come on, Studiophonik.

I am really hoping that this product is announced at NAMM.

Studiophonik was already announced. If you mean the shipping date announcement I want to wait until it is closer. But, we're getting there and it is coming out just how I had imagined... even better in fact.

Here is what we've announced. The PRs go out some time today but here's a sneak peak:
