Lets not draw this thread out, it can only get worse from here as people argue semantics...

Post

Excuse the following post but...

Do you guys really find these threads funny or productive at all? (nobody will care after 3 days)

To me looks ppl really like them, as those stupid '16:00' television films (that my mother-in-law loves, uses as sleeping pills), all ends with the hilarious predictable court scene.

I don't see what the fuss is about - regarding German law there was no issue (just for the record: I've been studying law of contracts) - it's much like (say) a shop where you can buy electronic things and they used to repair simple damages for free and suddenly they don't do this anymore - you bring your radio (which you bought in this shop) there and theguy you speak to says: 'we can repair it for you but I'm sorry but we've got a new policy: you will have to pay for it' - you can't answer then 'you have broken our contract - here's your radio and I want my money back!'

Really and truly...what is with all of this legal banter? I mean really...this is such a ridiculous tempest in a tea-pot. If someone really has a hard on to sue a company go after the ones that screw their customers royally from day one. No one is going to go after Aleksey so what's the point of this whole sturm und drang? Who even has the temerity to say that they've been hurt or will be hurt by this change in policy. Sheesh. All Aleksey has done is made the world a more beautiful place with his plug-ins. And if he scratch out a bit of a living by doing it, I say, let's friggin' help him out. Of course, maybe you'd prefer to go the PACE route and get Waves for ten times the price. Yeah...there's the ticket! (And by the way...what's going to be the amount of the suit...er...um...$75 bucks? It costs more to file in court...believe me.)

The products are brilliant; the customer service is as good as it gets and I bet there's not one person out there who said "I'm relying upon his upgrade policy in deciding to buy this EQ." Really and friggin' truly, if ya gotta go after someone go after the numerous companies who have burned their customers with shitty service...the ones who have screwed their customers with draconian and unworkable challenge and response practices. I'm sure there are plenty of deserving companies out there for the Erin Brokovich's of the world to go campaign against. Fuhcrissakes! Stop torturing a friend.

I'm sad to see aleksey getting tangled up in this recent plugin licence moral/legal argument mumbo jumbo. It got absolutely nasty with the tritone digital license thread with lots of weird crusader mentality: "I have the moral right to do so". No you don't.

Aleksey, don't listen these bunch of whiners. You have all the right to do what's best for your own plugins.

Whether it's legal or not I don't really care. Because in this instance the new upgrade policy is pretty much the norm, and I sort of wondered why it wasn't always this way. No complaints here Aleksey. I did just buy CurveEQ though so try and keep that upgrade price relative to purchase date

radio repair = bug fixing = minor version update = free
new radio function = new product = major version update = moderate update fee

Besides that:
- Voxengo allows license transfers w/o fee
- Voxengo stuff has been and is updated frequently
- Voxengo faces up to the communities all the time
- throws out lots of stuff for free (someone remembers Boogex, Span, StereoTouch...?)
- Voxengo offers damn' good stuff at really fair prices

And some people here discuss this issue as if the great rip-off has been announced - without having any idea of what the range of update charges actually will be...

...weird.

you know I just read the thread again...does anyone notice there are more people complaining about people complaining about legal issues than actual posts about legal issues? Have some of you just seen the posts saying stop complaing about the legal issue and jumped on the bandwagon without reading the thread?

It is clear that his intentions are honorable, it is clear he has plenty of support, it is clear that some of us point out what we might see as mistakes in his public relations out of respect for him...but sure as shit ten more people will say "will eveyone stop talking about the law" when really they are ones who keep bringing it up.

If you support Voxengo as I do, just say so for crying out loud. If someone disagrees it's important that Alksey is aware of that so he can gauge his progress and future plans by it. Don't start something that doesn't seem to be there to begin with.

Do people read threads anymore?

A policy can be changed at the company's discretion at anytime and without advance notice. A company may choose to honor previous policies or prices, but that is up the company. Policies are not bind to the law unless agreed and signed by both parties.
In other words, Voxengo can change policies as many times as they want.

yes. no, they never do.

aaaaarrrghh.

but seriously, that tritone thread brought the overall IQ of KVR down a big notch. Every sensible person who read any of it probably got into a really foul mood. And that's what's still being reflected in other threads all over.
