they call it http://www.arturia.com/en/tae.php

I don`t know what the hell is that important with 3 characters, if the result doesn`t sound analog but fully digital like any synthedit toy freebie?

This TAE thingy is more about selling theirt products for high prices....

True Analog Emulation  :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
nice joke Arturia ... much work to do...

pretty harsh hifi- they used the same tae technology on moog modular and thats a mad sounding synth.
come on you ..... lets have some aphex acid.

the Arturia Moog emulation is one of Arturia`s better emulations.

but still not good enough

try things like that with an Arturia synth:

these are sounds from Creamware Minimax Minimoog emulation:

http://www.amazona.de/content/musictool ... %20osc.mp3
http://www.amazona.de/content/musictool ... -Sweep.mp3
http://www.amazona.de/content/musictool ... hSwell.mp3

much more analog than the TAE thing to my ears....

with these of the orignial synth

and everything is clear:

just another VSTi toy..... the fantastic analog sound quality and the filter are nothing against the orginal thing in this Arturia synth.

I`m thinking of getting a Pulsar just for the the Prophet 5 emulation as the Creamware thing does sound much better.

The Arturia synths all just sound the same way in a bad VST-like way. They just don`t catch the real original character and this character makes the original synth worth the money and gets him this legendary name...
for 50$ the Arturia would be a nice toy, but not much to do with a true emulation....

Its truely sad, as I would like a good VSTi-Emulation of that wonderful synth. :(

just what I think about it...
Thats got an mpx100 over the top though?

Post

disappointed for the choice of their new synth... people were asking for oberheim and synthi...

and now they use a USB key protection :(

2 reasons for me to not buy this one :?
Analog sounds :D

What puzzles me about Arturia is that they put so little effort into the demo-mp3's.

This one as well as those for their Arturia Brass is not convincing at all(rather the opposite). A lot of mp3's, good, but how do they sound?

Today we are pretty spoiled with fully functional(or close to) demos to test plugins without a hazzle.

One thing if it were $100 range products, but $300 you won't buy and take the loss if not liking it.

The thing to have a hardware key just to run demo? What is this?

I expect it to be good products, and they are very good at answering email in a very nice way.

#1. Get some professional musicians to make demos for you. Maybe even do a studio session for it. This is selling the product(or rather stopping you as of now).

#2. Fix a nonhazzle demo, just to download the plug with what's in there to test out.

There are only one product category that cannot be tested fully, and that is large sample libraries. And that is excused.

I really enjoy the Arturia Minimoog plug-in. I've made sounds on it that are different than any other of my VSTs. Yes its not exactly like the real one but I think its also a little to do with the computer/audio card interface as well. It's software so Im sure (hope) we will see version 3.0, 4.0 etc...

I also liked the Aturia 2600. The sequencer and spring reverb are great allthough I liked the sound of the Timewarp version a little better in the high end.

I disliked the Native Instruments Pro-52 (never played with the 53). A real Prophet 5 is hard to emulate I think... its something in the ultra fast envelopes. I was never able to afford a real one so Im hoping Arturia gets close.

I love how they are making the plugs photo-realistic... really fun stuff!

its not that the Arturia plug-ins sound bad at all, they just don`t sound "analog".
So they should not call it true analog emulation.

I miss many character of analog synths on these TAE synth:

-real resonating filters
-basslines that rave and wobble your speakers to maximum and have that "pressure"

TAE just sounds flat and a little boring to me.

Hi Logan,

just out of curiosity: Where do you think is the prob with digital ultra fast envelopes?

Hi Fritz,

No idea! They can be the fastest right? I only bring it up because I remember playing a real P5 once and when I touched a key it was like lighting!

I "hear" what others do in the Arturia synths, etc... but I make my own presets 99% of the time.

Ya know, hifi, guys like you end up costing me a lot of money!

I just bought an original Pro One off of Ebay for $460! (1/2 price of Creamware's emu!). I love it, and will always enjoy it, but until I heard all this belly-aching about how bad emulations were, I was perfectly happy with them!

(I say all this with a wink and a grin)...

Isn't the Creamware MiniMax based on an outboard DSP card? That makes for a rather unfair comparison with products like MiniMoog V, Minimonsta, Minimogue, et. al. It might take another generation or two of PC CPUs before we can get that kind of modeling done in real time in a native implementation.

That seems not to be very special. I think you could make it with Arturia synths, too.
I'll try it when I have one under my fingers or better, on the screen!
I remember I made some more weird things with Moog Modular which is a very good emulation.

The other stuff from Arturia is high quality, too. This periodicly returning discussion about

the best analogue simulation results no enlightenment. The final topic is most obviously the

statement that only hardware sounds like hardware and is never to get emulated. After that

some answers like "You're so right!" and then let's wait for the next turn of wise-analogue-

scientists, if Arturia or Gmedia or WayOutWare or maybe Rumpelstilzchen develops an analogue

emulation again.
In a complete production no one can analyse, if a hardware Moog or an Arturia emu has been

used. Everyone who has seen the inside of a studio and made or saw a production process knows

this.
You would be surprised in which recent productions software emulations have been used and

from whom!!! And I bet no one could hear it!!!
It's not an A-B comparison with both beneath and playing the same settings without any

effect.
And a last comment to the sound snippets above: There are effects used. I don't know the

Creamware stuff, perhaps some onboard effects. The pure waveform quality, if though it is not

very important, has been measured in case of Mini Moog emus. The difference between Arturia

and Creamware is marginal. Furthermore it doesn't give a conclusion about the quality itself.

I'm sure that you can measure 100 Minis and you'll get 100 characteristic curves!
I'm looking forward very excited for the Arturia Prophet! I don't think that I can buy it,

but some friends or customers will - and I'll play them!
