Is Waves VST 24bit fixed point?

They're 32bit float. By the way, the TDM plugins that process on the motorola chip are 48bit fixed internally. There's a sutble audible difference between native and TDM, in favour of TDM. I pretty much despise all things waves but the TDM versions actually sound quite usable.
We did some A/B testing, and found it odd that waves doesn't inform their customers about this.
I mailed waves (marketing) about it and they denied any difference between the platforms. I wasn't going to believe this since I knew what I was hearing. I then mailed straight to waves r'n'd and they confirmed that, yes, there is a subtle difference as TDM resolution is 48bit int compared to 32bit float native.
Then again, most native plugs process at 64bit double float resolution on any important calculations. Waves is simply getting old.

You can have a clipping at any resolution - what kind of "clipping" you have in a mind?electro wrote:If they are 32bit float, whats with the clipping?
The one above 0dB or perhaps some kind of distortion what shouldn't be there?
If you mean the overloading 0dB then it's quite normal. This is just a way things are in digital domain - range is counted from 0 to minus values (thought most DAWs have ceiling set at +6dB).
