I'm not convinced they did anything to the vst support...oh well...1.5 still works fine...maybe by 2.5 they'll see the light....

Just downloading the demo now (at last!) but disappointed to hear the VST support is still flakey...

I had major problems with some of the same plugs in version 1.5 (specifically LFX 1310 and Glaceverb. I posted at the time on the Adobe forum. In addition to the issues implied above, I found that even though Audition had supposedly closed down, in fact it was still running background tasks. When I later went to shut down my computer Windows detected these tasks still running and the "End Task" dialog box appeared.
Subsequently I checked in the Task manager after shutting Audition 1.5 down. Although not listed in "Apllications", Audition was still appearing in "Processes" and was eating up RAM. Removing the offending VSTs did not solve the issue, and in fact I had to unistall Audition itself, do a full Registry Clean (using the paid for "Registry Medic", which I bought specially at that time!) and reinstall Audition.
So I really hope this is an issue that Adobe will look into if it is still a problem in 2.0.
Hink - sorry to hear about your problems there, mate. However, if the plugs work for you in Sonar, have you tried using the Cakewalk DX versions of them in Audition? Certianly in v1.5 I have access to my VST effects via the VST folder, but also listed as a VST folder under the DX dropdown, along with the folders for Sonitus, etc. effects. In 1.5 I have found that some effects work better using the Cakewalk DX wrapped vesions. FOr example the Kjaerhus Classic effects do not display their presets in Multitrack view, but using the Cakewalk wrapped versions they do.
ON a seperate subject, I am having some problems with VST effects in Sonar. FOr example, if you draw in automation curves, only the first curve works! In subsequent curves, the effect ignores the curve and just jumps to the next node. This makes automation of VST effects in Sonar off-limits except for one basic parameter. Apparently this is a known bug. Also I found that some VST effects simply don't make it through the Cakewalk wrapper at all (for example the Betabugs Bug Pack).

I've learned that if I get any odd behaviour with Audition, first thing to check is whether somehow another instance is silently working in the background. Not that it happens often - just worth checking if suspicion is aroused.

My first experiences with the demo are:
- downloading with OPERA browser gave a 65,7MB file that was of course not useable. (mailed it to the support, maybe it's just a problem here and not generally with Opera - but just in case, use another browser for the 470MB...worked fine here then)
- setting up my VST-folder is impossible here, Audition2 always crashes, I have to restart, next time the same story.
Other hosts CAN "read in" the same effects without any problem. Audition can't. Of course the reason is some "obscure" plugin maybe. In my case it stops at the "ariesverb" that could be easily recognized from Audacity, Soundforge, EnergyXT, Orion and others.

The VSTs scanned in correctly the first time I opened the demo here as part of the start-up. I assume that is because I have version 1.5 already installed? Ozpeter - did it just import my settings and directories from 1.5?
All of them working fine here too (although I eliminated ones that didn't run in version 1.5, so I didn't expect problems tbh).

Reason rewired into Audition 2.0 is working here without a GUI lag, etc... BUT I'm getting terrible latency (nearly a second!)
I have selected the M-Audio ASIO driver in Audition's audio setup, and enabled Reason as a rewire slave, launched Reason, and started to play one of Reason's instruments. As I say, there is terrible latency. It is as though Audition is not using the ASIO drive at all, even though it's selected. I don't experiene this using Reason in Ableton Live, so I'm confused...

But I don't think a change at all was made so I expect the same problems. It's a disapointment, I like AA, but I am getting more and more use to Sonar, I'm leaning towards using that for most audio and just use AA as a wave editor...
