Ohm,
Please press on with the new features (the latest beta is sounding good to me), and I am sure you won't forget theses FRs:
  • drag a loop from Windows Explorer (or the host's browser) onto an empty Loops slot,
  • duplicate a track to another track,
  • a single Undo would help a lot, so I can backtrack (no pun intended) on bad experiments.
  • ability to load loops of 64 (or even 128) beats,
  • 4 buttons at the top of the Browser as shortcuts to 4 favourite folders? (the folders would be defined on the Settings page), - I wanted to load loops from several "favourite" folders and browsing took a bit of time
  • when you click [Add track] can the Arranger scroll up automatically to show the new track as the bottom track in the window)? - this would avoid having to scroll to get to the new track
  • could we have a Settings value to change the width of the Browser and Loops panes - as some of my loop names are long and I cannot see which is which in the current panes. Values: 0 = hidden, 1 = as at present, 2 = double width
  • when we select "the selected loop" or an arrangement (C1 to B2) so that we can trigger its slices or events, could the trigger note (C4 upwards etc) appear in each slice or event (in the bottom right corner, perhaps?)
  • a MIDI Velocity sensitivity control (on the settings page?)
Any news on REX(2) import?

And finally, a new one: could we have a centre line in the Slicer to help select 0dB crossing points?

Post

Good list - now everybody feel free to comment on these FR's - perhaps I should organize a vote like they did in the RAW material forum? "your 3 most important FR's"...

The centre line is in the next update - it's essential, and very easy to implement :)

Yeah, good list DS! I don't know where to start as far as priority. I really like this one:
when you click [Add track] can the Arranger scroll up automatically to show the new track as the bottom track in the window)? - this would avoid having to scroll to get to the new track
and this one
ability to load loops of 64 (or even 128) beats,
Undo is a must and duplicating a track would be very nice indeed :D

Add to this the Timestretching.
Also, Ohm stated as a coming feature, which would be great:
What I'm gonna do is to make arrangement triggering a parameter in the "global" parameter type in the midi controller config. This way you can map arrangements to notes that are not in sequence, and make individual selections of toggle. You can even trigger via CC messages.

I will probably add a quicker way of defining this, like "midi learn" - click an arrangement thumbnail - press a note. Then a switch on each thumbnail to select toggle on / off.

Ohm also stated that the switches will only be visible when the midi learn function is on.

Ohm, what would really accent LS is that plug you were considering which would be along the lines of Trollo, only better since Shift/Cntrl/Alt keys would be utilized as well. I say this as a FR because it would make controlling LS so much easier with the computer keys. If you are still thinking about this plug, if there's anyway to also utilize the F1 F2 F3 etc. keys that would be GREAT!

Oh yes....very important feature would be the Drag n Drop of FXB files. I like how i can currently open an fxb file and there would be no glitch in the audio. Very cool....so DnD of fxb files shoud be the same.
Now, what would REALLY be cool is to have the ability to preview an fxb file (if it's possible)before DnDing it onto LS.

Ok, this is a long post so i'll make my last FR:
This was requested B4...make assigning loops to tracks quicker. Have a button or something that automatically assigns each loop to a respective track.
In fact, i wonder if anyone can agree with this, i see the ability to use LS w/o the loop menu.

Simply drag a file from the browser directly onto the arrranger and oila!-it automatically goes to it's own track with the slicer displaying the file.

Constantly dragging files onto the arranger produces new exclusive tracks for each file.
If you want to replace a file within a specific track, just click on the lock to loop button and now any file you double click in the browser replaces the current file in that track.

Well....i think that's enough blabber from me. :hihi:

Edit: have to add, i just thought of something to accent the last FR. The loop menu could be a list of the tracks within the arranger so it would be a quick way to jump to a specific track/file. Once you select that track from within the loop menu, that track displays along with the file on the slicer.
So the "loop" menu would look like this:

Tr1 **name of file**
Tr2 **name of file**
Tr3 **name of file**

etc. Now all you do is click on any track to view it and it's file in the slicer. With this option, it would be nice to have a browser button so if the button is not activated, you can view a long list of tracks within an arrangment. Need to load some files? Hit the browser button and it opens.

Ok..i'm seriosuly done now.
Give me freedom or give me television

I could go for 64 and up
being able to change the pane width sounds good too

my two main FRs are related to moving the focus away from the slicer and onto the arranger.

(1) Set outputs for slices in the arranger instead of in the original sliced loop.
(2) Save arranger loops as acidised wavs.

When you have a frankenstein loop in the arranger that's made up of bits from 3 or 4 source loops, it's a PITA to then send that to a seperate output.

I may, of course, be missing something

well, i'm missing it, too, cause i agree, been thinking that for a while now. :)

Sounds good to me too. And:

Do we already have a way to export a MIDI file of the groove? I remember using that in a.o. MicroDicer. And although it's less necessary when you do all the arranging in LiveSlice, I might occasionally want to copy the groove and use it with DR008 etc. (On the other hand, it might not be the intended purpose of LiveSlice, and it's better to have clear focus and consistent features, than implement exotic requests from newbie users ;) )

EDIT: Never mind. I found out that I can already do this with BeatCreator and with MicroDicer and with eXT Sampler, so it seems a silly request for a more interactive toy like LiveSlice.

I like scuzzphuts FR's too :) and the "drag loops to tracks" idea is cool too. Then you could SHIFT select 10 loops, drag them onto an arrangement "thumbnail" and put each loop onto a different track.

that would be TEH R0X0RRrrZZ!!111! ohm :D

I like all feature sugestions, and I'm adding another: sample offset as fx! I'm working mainly in trackers for almost ten years and I think that feature is very good for making good sounds!

not really a major feature request here but...

would it be possible to fine tune the mouse wheel support when scrolling the browser? i've noticed that if i've got a folder with a hell of a lot of samples in it, a single move of my mouse wheel will make the browser jump in very large increments, going right past lots of samples.

What would make my life easier:
a) a single Zoom control for all tracks in the Arranger - currently it is not easy to place events precisely when the Snap setting is small

b) 0 dB line in the Slicer - to avoid clicking

c) REX-2 import (yep, I know you will need info/licence? from Propellerheads and need to be a company to get the info).

....this would be by far my most wanted :hyper: :!: - I hope you can make it through this organisational stuff...

oh! and loop cropping :hyper: :D
