Because as far as I know, a good tone is one that works for the song in question. If stabbing holes in a speaker cone and running my guitar through that gave me the tone for the song in question, I'd use it!
The reason I wont go near Waves is coz its Waves. Most over hyped company and product range ever - in my opinion.
