AT LAST!! Adobe Audition 2 info

fwiw Adobe told me that 2.0 is now back ordered if you want the cd version..I have no idea how long it will take, but I'll keep everyone posted...I won't be very pleased if I get stuck with the download version....they have not charged me yet, but I have no idea how long I'll have to wait...though I really expected to have it by this weekened and I'm somewhat put off that Adobe couldn't make a note on their page..instead ships in 2-4 days...the best they could say is "you should have it before the tryout runs out"...if it takes that long, it's a pretty good chance they will have lost me as a customer (unless they are willing to sell me the download and mail me the manual when they get their act together)...I'm really not happy about this development and tbh I have almost cancelled the order several times already...I can say if I end up with the download version to get what I want it will be the last penny they ever get from me...high price upgrade + nonavailable is a strong indicator too me that perhaps I should rethink what I use for an editor, and what happnes when big companies swallow up smaller companies...

I can understand you feeling impatient having made the order Hink, but I don't really get the strength of your feelings 
The tryout version is the full thing and it will last for nearly another month. Everything you do and save will still be fine when the box arrives.
For my part I didn't even order the upgrade yet, as it's not yet on Amazon in the UK. When it is I will be buying it though... and here's another reason:
This evening I needed to burn some copies of a CD of guided relaxation I composed and produced for the local hospital. As usual I used Audition, buit this time decided to use the version 2 tryout. Well, it was so much quicker that I was momentarily stunned! The first copy usually takes 20 minutes or so (for the 70 minute CD) but using version 2 it took around seven minutes!
Hardly an improvement that merits a sticker on the box or a headline in the advertisements - BUT yet another sign that Audition really is in very capable hands and has been brought bang up to date

well it would be better if I knew that the back order was for all of 2.0, but the fact is area retailers have 2.0 for sale, but not the upgrade...and there is something important missing..a manual...I do not like to have things running when I'm working on music, I disconnect from my cable modem and shut down my protection..if I remember right the help files on AA are online...so if I have a question I can't do that...I like a manual in book form...but why strong feelings? Simple, now with this upgrade I have seen what I perceive as Adobe neglecting it's loyal customers twice...if they force me to accept a download when I want the boxed version I can't see me feeling like I was treated fairly. (likely I will live with it, but I will be looking at other apps in the future) Right now even without taking my money I have to take in account 142 dollars, I could spend that on something else I want now and get AA when it's ready...but they took that choice away with deceiving me into believing I would have it quickly.
I am working on a song in 2.0 now as well and I agree with you, if I cancel my order it will only be until they have the situation straightened out. I want the features of the upgrade, but I also want to do business with a company that shows appreciation...Adobe is pretty big, if they are too big to care about keeping old customers than that's their loss...that's how I'm feeling now.
In September I decided to throw caution to the wind and pre-ordered Sonar 5 (I hadn't been a fan of Cakewalk before that), I got it before I expected...this imo is the same thing....if they do not have it in stock, than this is a pre-order imo....any company no matter how big or small should have that info posted when you make your purchase...and tbh it's at their own detriment, because I am getting more and more comfortable with Sonar...wait too long and I'll say I don't want it anymore.
I will not apologize for being a tough customer, and tbh it usually works in my benefit. But damn it I'm tired of companies playing these tiny little head games...I wont mention any names, but this is the second company that put new retail customers ahead of their loyal customers in as many months. I suppose we could all say "what the hell, that's the way it is. It is good software"...but me I firmly believe we all need to send a message to all companies once and for all that the customer is still always right.
BTW I waited until yesterday to call, I wondered why my account showed no action. I was on hold for about 45 minutes before I got the answer "they seem to be on back order, but I'm sure you'll have it in time"...had they said allow 2-4 weeks for delivery I would be fine...but the page I ordered from clearly says usually ships in 2-4 days...I realize "usually" in this case is their out...but I don't like games...tell me straight, I'll wait....bullshit me and I'll move on......that holds true with every business I deal with...I'm a very loyal customer (really, local businesses know this about me, because I go to the same stores, places to eat ect), if the company does not wish to respect that then why should they get my money? We ordered Chinese take out on my wifes b-day, when we called we told them we had a coupon but it was expired for a couple bucks off...without even knowing it was Denises b-day thay said hell want a free large chicken fingers? They said we were "top priority customers", of course that might also have to do with the fact that I tip between 25 and 33% for rhe drivers...

Well I can sympathise with where you're coming from because I experienced a similar thing with Tracktion after Mackie bought it up. It was one of a number of factors that led to me giving up and switching hosts (primarily to Ableton). Mackie's handling of the Tracktion 2 update release should be studied by marketing students as an object lesson in how to pissoff customers.
Having said that, Adobe is indeed a very big company, and from your story it sounds to me as if you spoke to a telesales person who was simply reading information off their screen. On the Amazon site it still cites 27th January as the release date for the boxed product, and if the telesales prole was reading the same information it may well have shown as "back ordered" becuase telesales readouts work that way.
So what I'm saying is you may yet be surprised by an earlier-than-expected arrival, and as you are already at work with the tryout version I do hope for you that the full thing comes soon. In the meantime, try to keep enjoying Audition 2 anyway

Oh I'll keep using it, but I'll be skeptical in the future...if it isn't ready until tomorrow I would have no problem...if they said March 30th I would have no problem...I just like it straight...the adobe store says "Usually ships in 2-4 days"...if they knew that was not the truth, then they should of said so..but some on the AA forums already have their's, so that isn't the case...perhaps they are just under prepared...so admit it, that's all I ask from them, if it's not going to ship is a notice much to ask? The 27th is also the day I get the rest of my taxes...had I known I would of done things different...

actually I'm quite relaxed...but I just don't want to get stuck with the download...the longer I wait the more I'll think about giving in...

Yeah.. It took me overnight for the download -- but I simply couldn't wait to try it. I'm glad I did because I've already used it on two songs and will do a third one today. Love it!

No, they are installed locally on your machine. In AA 1.5 they were just HTML files displayed in a browser. In AA2, they have their own help viewer app.Hink wrote:if I remember right the help files on AA are online...

ok I just had an epiphany,
I was feeling a little bummed because I wouldn't be able to use my remote25 to control AA2 because the fader volume control is apparently a pitch bend message (of course Mackie). And anyway I sold a BCR2000 I had a few months ago because frankly my desk has more plastic than space on it (no spot for a drink!)
when it occured to me
why not try using MIDIOX to translate CC's from my remote sliders to pitchbend?
Anyway I'm too tired to try it out right now but I can't imagine why it shouldnt work (and have only miniscule latency added) so tomorrow when I have my wits I'll give it a stab.
I'm still ticked off about fxb/fxp support and the crappy way this thing reads vst presets, but I'm liking everything else.
